The question of sin within marriage is a two sided coin. Marriage so succinctly exposes my own shortcomings, but also tries me as how to respond when my spouse’s sin is exposed.
In the light of my own sins, do I use knowledge of their sin to crush them, humiliate them, or gain power over them? Or do I rather use it to gently and lovingly inspire them into joining me in the imitating of the character of Jesus Christ?

I love this photo…
It speaks to me of the presence of God. But it’s more than that.
Exodus 3 tells us:
“The bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.”

God was in the flame
The flame was in the bush
The bush was not consumed

“Our God is a consuming fire…” Deut 4:24
But not today. Today God was in the bush, but the bush was not consumed.

The truth in this scene was so prophetic
Moses had no idea what was coming
He didn’t really know who God was yet, but he would…

“I AM THAT I AM”
I love how God says it in all CAPS
Moses wants details
God says, I Am the details

How marvelous

What is going on here?
Listen to this please my friends

God is always at work in the future, today.
God is always at work today, in the past, redeeming it for His work tomorrow.
God owns time
He is Alpha and Omega, I AM THAT I AM

Moses thought he blew it in Egypt
God was just beginning to shape the present and the future with Moses’ past

Moses thought Israel’s future looked impossible
God was already at Pentecost where men caught fire, but were not consumed

I AM THAT I AM

In the place to which Moses had run away, God called him to Himself.
He sent Moses to a work
He promised to be with him
He said that for a sign, Moses would lead His people back to this very mountain to serve God

And that’s just what God did
He redeems EVERYTHING

“Emmanuel” means God with us
And He IS with us

God told Moses,
“Don’t come near the bush!”
“Take off your shoes.”
“This is holy ground.”

God had to show Moses who God was, so He could show him who God would be, though He already was…

It’s crazy isn’t it?
We are so shallow
We are so faithless

What happened in your life yesterday, He will use tomorrow.
Who God is to you today is just a taste of what He is to be.
What is your present tragedy is His future victory, if you will meet him at the bush that is burning, but not consumed.

God is here where you are. His name is Jesus, and like the 3 Hebrew children, (Dan 3) He is in the fire. What is God doing?
He is being God…

Isn’t it time you came to Him and got on your face and said, “Yes?”
Your life is not your own. It belongs to Him, and He wants it all for His glory and yours.

All your past
All your present
All your future

He wants your hurt
He wants your joy
He wants your fears
He wants your failures
He wants your faith…

He’s about to do some serious deliverance

Focusing daily on Christ strips us of self-infatuation which robs us of the joy we pursue.
It’s like drinking sea water. We thirst so badly for joy and peace but kill ourselves with the very thing we drink to quench the thirst.
Want life? Pursue Christ, not self-love, self-protection, self-righteousness… Christ is the only water that’s pure and the only path to real joy and peace!
