Spiritual Practices: Formed not Performed: Part III: Solitude
We heard from our one and only this week!
Y’all asked for the three challenge levels for solitude practice this week so here you go:
🔹 LEVEL 1 (starter): Spend 5-10 minutes ONE TIME this week alone/quiet (no music, no phone, no TV, no reading) with God. Just be yourself with Him. Breathe/be quiet.
🔹 LEVEL 2 (mid-level challenge): Set aside 5 minutes every other day this week. For that 5 minutes: spend 1 minute taking deep breaths (exhale your distractions/worries, and on your inhales think about God’s love). Spend 2 minutes sitting/being quiet—let God see your unfiltered self! Spend the last 2 minutes focusing on God’s presence or a piece of Scripture you already know (Psalm 23 for example!).
🔹LEVEL 3 (most challenging): Take 45 minutes one day this week where you don’t have to hurry to do anything. Put a timer and then PUT YOUR PHONE FAR AWAY! Be still/quiet with God. Breathe! Bring your journal. Write down how you are. Ask God what he thinks. Read a Psalm over and over again.
Remember—you’re doing this not to perform for God or earn something, you’re creating space for Him to form you!!
See ya next Tuesday: 6:45 - 8:00 pm
