We are a church, coffee house, concert venue, meeting room, and events center in Old Town, Fort Collins CO. Everyday Joe’s Coffee House is the name of our coffee shop and venue. It all happens in one building at 144 S. OUR COAT OF ARMS
In 2012 – after Timberline Old Town church had gathered for a decade – we started to talk about what we wanted people to see when they walked past the building. The
conversation turned to the neighborhood pubs in parts of the world where some folks around the table had spent some time. These pubs are focal points of a community, with picture-based signs hanging out front to identify what the place has to offer and what the place is…or perhaps who the place is. What emerged from more conversations were the core values we didn’t even know we had, but had found their way in over the years. The crown represents the Kingdom Of God. The now and not yet we seek to catch glimpses of and participate in. It is who and whose we are. The lightning bolt stands for history. Our building used to be an electrical appliance warehouse, and we honor that. We also honor and need to remember where we’ve been, what we’ve come through, how we’ve arrived. The train is our spaces. An active train track runs right down our street. We believe in the power of space. We believe in being redeemers of our spaces, present to the neighborhoods and contexts in which we find ourselves. We believe one way of going about this is service, and that is the role of the coffee cup. Six days a week, the building puts on its work clothes and serves the community as a coffee house and gathering space, powered by the hearts and fine craft of volunteers committed to taking care of whoever they come into contact with. And none of this without the cross. The gateway to living out salvation as a congregation and community of living, breathing souls with stories to tell. WHAT TO EXPECT
At Timberline Old Town we gather to remind each other who we are…that we are all created in the image of God and have chosen to accept that, accept God’s love, take care of each other, and participate in God’s kingdom as followers of Jesus Christ. We study the Scriptures together and wrestle with their meanings and their implications for us. We worship God together through music, art, coffee, stories, and food. We want to take care of each other because that’s fundamental in the command to love one another. We want to serve in this community and make this town better because we’re here and Jesus served. Everyday Joe’s is the outreach arm of our church. It is what this building looks like when it puts on its work clothes and steps out into the life and goings on of Old Town Fort Collins. We value the hard work that goes into coffee – from the farmer to the roaster to the volunteer barista behind the counter. We believe stewardship is involved in crafting a quality cup of coffee. We believe quality honors the Father and the work He does in his Kingdom. And we believe in serving a quality cup of coffee to the people who come through the doors, because they deserve something top notch. We believe we are all created with the ability to create, created by a creator. Some folks create visual art. We provide the space on the walls at 144 S. Mason for artists to display their works, free of charge. We believe in hosting concerts and community events as a way to serve our community. We provide a space to hear things and be heard. Whether it is music, a lecture on Antarctica, or an author releasing a new book…it should also be top notch. Sometimes this means walking an artist down the road of critique and feedback if they aren’t ready to be heard. This also means providing the space to be heard if we stumble upon something special. We expect to take part in the Kingdom everyday in our interactions with the people who come through the doors, with the volunteers behind the bar and soundboard, with the good folk who provide the product we sell, with the artists on stage…with the community we serve. We “…keep praying that this faith we hold in common keeps showing up in the good things we do, and that people recognize Christ in all of it.” Philemon 1:6, MSG.
