Grace UMC Forsyth

Worship can take place anywhere. Pews, a pulpit, stained glass windows, an organ – even walls and a roof – aren’t always necessary. Tonight, worship took place in the parking lot of America’s Best Value Inn, adjacent to I-75, in Forsyth. Grace UMC Forsyth organized the worship as a part of its Sunday Funday ministry. Between church members and motel residents, a congregation of about 40 came together to sing hymns, hear special violin music, receive inspirational messages, and pray together while celebrating all the blessings and relationships that have been realized. A fellowship meal followed worship. To paraphrase something that is often said (and is evidenced by the smiles in these pictures), -- "a blessed time was had by all.” Thanks be to God!!!!! Amen!

Jesus said, "Do you love me? Then feed my sheep." No conditions. No ifs, ands, or buts. Just simply . . . "Feed my sheep."

Our monthly time with the residents of American's Best Value Inn is a reminder of this verse from John 21. Around a common table under tents in an asphalt parking lot, feeding goes both ways. The residents of the motel and the members of Grace UMC Forsyth both become "feeders of sheep," finding and sharing nourishment, relationship, love and fulfillment. All who attend leave well fed and full of hope. Amen!

Join us in prayer for our friends in South Georgia. If you would like to make a donation to UMCOR to help with relief in South Georgia, you may make a check payable to Grace UMC and mark for "South Ga. Fires."

As wildfires continue to impact communities across South Georgia this morning, we pause to lift our prayers for all who are affected. We pray for those who have been displaced, for families facing uncertainty, and for all who are experiencing loss. We give thanks for the courage and efforts of firefighters, first responders, and volunteers who are working to protect lives and property.

God of mercy, bring comfort to the anxious, strength to the weary, and hope in the midst of fear. Surround these communities with your peace.

Our disaster response team is in conversation about ways to assist, and our shower trailer has already been requested and is being deployed today.

The South Georgia Conference stands in prayer and solidarity with all who are impacted.
