We are saddened by the passing of David Bittle. David served his community as a policeman, but his true calling was his service of his Lord and savior. David attended multiple Be Still events and was looking forward to the Hearts like David’s event. He also was a leader in Men’s alliance along with leading Bible studies and serving at the Avenue church.
David embodied 2Timothy 4:7
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
Our prayers are with David’s family as they navigate this difficult time, but relish in the fact that David is with his lord.

It is with profound sadness and heartfelt gratitude that the Waxahachie Police Department announces the passing of Public Service Officer David Bittle, a beloved member of our community and a man who dedicated his life to serving others.

“David’s faith played a central role in his life, and it gives us comfort to know he is now at peace with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. As we mourn his passing, we find solace in the profound legacy he leaves behind; a life defined by service, compassion, and love for his community. To David, we say: Rest peacefully, brother. "O God, You are my God; I shall seek You earnestly;
My soul thirsts for You, my flesh yearns for You,
In a dry and weary land where there is no water."
- Psalm 63:1

David most likely wrote this psalm during his son Absalom's rebellion when in the wilderness of Judah - a season of danger, pressure, and deep emotional anguish.

His cry was not for the return of his throne, his army, or for a positive outcome. His cry was for the nearness of God. David knew what few understand - the deepest need (beneath every need) in God Himself!
