Announcements

OUR INVITATION… God is with his people. He dwells in their midst. Listen and hear him speak. Our hearts long for his word. We wait upon the Lord so that we may renew our strength. God is our help and our support. His spirit moves among us to lead us in holiness and righteousness all our days. With joyful hearts we sing God's praise. With rejoicing we call upon Him. The Lord is our hope and our salvation. Let us start this service well, by reminding ourselves: That it is not we who chose Christ, but Christ who chose us, That we are not here because of our goodness but because of Christ’s grace, That we are not here to enlighten ourselves, but to allow Christ to enlighten us, That we have not come to be entertained but to worship God with heart, soul, mind and strength.

THIS SUNDAY… we will be accepting offerings for Presbyterian Disaster Relief for those in the path of Hurricanes Florence and Michael

THE FIRST SUNDAY OF THE MONTH IS OUR FELLOWSHIP SUNDAY... we enjoy food and fellowship with our Fabulous Fellowship Breakfast® at 9:30 in the Arvon Fellowship Hall. Join us next month!

What a surprise when we arrived at Fork Union for our Fun & Flex class and choir rehearsal Wednesday Evening! Praise God it appears to have just missed the building!

INVITATION... Come and worship! We will praise the One between, within, and over. Trust in the One who co-creates the was, the now, and the will-be. Our hope is in the One who creates expansive love calling us to do the same. Follow the One who never breaks covenant. We follow the One whose extravagant love calls us to co-create justice for the oppressed, feed the hungry, unlock prisons, and welcome strangers, orphans, and widows. Praise the One whose justice is grace-full and inclusive. We praise the Spirit that spans the ages!

INVITATION… The prophets of old spoke of God’s justice, even when it was unwelcome. Who will hear their message? We will listen and we will hear! Responding to God’s call, Jesus traveled, preaching and teaching all who would listen. Who will hear his message? We will listen and we will hear! Christ sent out disciples two by two, to spread the good news in any place that would welcome them. Who will hear their message? We will listen and we will hear! God’s prophets are among us still, around the world and in these pews. Who will hear their message? We will listen and we will hear!

INVITATION… We look to the rulers of this earth for leadership, wisdom, and strength. We look to these bodies of ours for stability, fulfillment, and joy. We look to families and friends for love, compassion, and hope. When rulers betray, when bodies fail, and when families disappoint, God offers another look. God will guide us. God’s Spirit will sustain us. Christ will welcome us home. Come, my sisters and brothers, we are all God’s family now.
