One of God's Intangible Gifts

Zechariah and Elizabeth weren’t perfect—but their hearts were fully devoted to God. Even in their old age… even in their disappointment… even while living with the shame of being childless in a culture that often saw it as judgment.

Yet they did not lose heart.

The Bible says all have fallen short of the glory of God, but righteousness often looks like something simple: humility, faithfulness, and a steady desire to follow the Lord—especially when life doesn’t go the way we hoped.

Many of us, when life turns hard, are tempted to throw up our hands and say, “Why follow God anyway?”

But that question only makes sense if we misunderstand who God is.

Like the psalmist in Psalm 73 reminds us—our hope is not in circumstances, but in the Lord Himself.

So take heart today.
Faithfulness in the quiet, unseen moments matters to God.

Therefore… we do not lose heart.

Luke tells us exactly why he wrote his Gospel: so that we may have certainty (Luke 1:4).

Not just certainty in cold facts or historical details—but certainty in our hearts and spirits.

Luke was a careful physician and historian who investigated eyewitness accounts of Jesus’ life. But our confidence ultimately isn’t in Luke’s research ability. Our confidence is in the God who inspired him.

Scripture tells us that all Scripture is God-breathed. That means the words Luke recorded—from the parables to the Sermon on the Mount—are not merely Luke’s words. They are the words of God given through Luke.

The prophet Isaiah reminds us that no word from God is empty. Every word accomplishes exactly what God intends.

So the Gospel of Luke isn’t merely a historical document—it is God speaking to us today, giving us assurance in Christ.

As Jesus promises:

“Whoever comes to me I will never cast out.” — John 6:37

Or as F***y Crosby wrote:

“Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!
O what a foretaste of glory divine!”

The Gospel was written so that you may know with certainty the things you have been taught.
