-Long post alert!
What to say? So say it all!
I'm not an overly emotional person, I tend to save all that for my partner in ministries Vicki L. Dehrkoop our Director of Children Ministry.
This has been quite a crazy year! EVERYONE and their brother's are so busy. The amount of amazing opportunities in our community with activities and sports is truly a gift! And the Blessing is these Children and Youth STILL MAKE TIME for church. God! And growing their faith. I've heard tales from some youth that they've started praying with teammates before games. Not to win but for the people. They take their faith with them, because they made time to receive and learn how to. They learned that here in church. God is good! I get the amazing gift of seeing the spirit blossom in these Children and Youth and their families. And what a joy each and everyone of them bring to our groups!
-The real reason for the post- Today was our Christmas Program and they all did their parts and owned their roles! With minimal practices, may I add. No thanks to the wet white windy weather. They absolutely did their best! They were adorable and had fun laughing through a few sticky parts. Honestly they stuck through a get down to business practice early this morning. We all worked together. No complaints! This group of Children and Youth are amazing! π God. Is. Good!
-This years program back story-
I was approached a few months back by my 6th graders and what they thought our theme should be for this years Christmas program. Considering last year we did a Biblical Grinch program, the 6th grade girls really felt passionate that IF we could do that, then of course The Lorax must also help people learn about JESUS!
Folks, when I tell you we sat around a conference room table with 6th graders and two adults we were having a true meeting. That's is exactly what happened. The 6th graders mapped out the plot possibilities. Do we go 'old' school or 'new' school Lorax? All the visions and dreams expressed and layed down on the table... And just like that, I was was left with a solid plot and a "you add the words!" And they left. -The past few weeks the groups have started an inside joke "I'm Bonnie I speak for the youth!" - Did the Youth find all my typos, silly puns, cringy lines? Yep! And we laughed. Hopefully this will be a Christmas Program they remember for years!
God Is Good!
