A dull knife ruins good prep work. Restoring a fine edge requires water, the right angle, and the necessary friction of a whetstone. Proverbs reminds us that iron sharpens iron in precisely the same way: genuine spiritual growth never happens in isolation—it happens when we allow our lives to come into honest contact with one another.

Our monthly midday gathering has returned. Here are a couple of photos from our group last week at the Palmetto Club. Look out for the details for the September gathering.

We gather not merely to share a meal, but to practice the ancient rhythm of table fellowship—creating space for substantive conversation, shared prayer, and the intentional work of following Jesus together in the middle of a demanding week. Bring an appetite for good food and deep community.

This past Sunday, our SMAA Choir members came together for a wonderful afternoon of fellowship, food, and fun at the home of our Music Director, Mr. Powers. We are so thankful for the opportunity to spend time together, strengthen bonds, and enjoy each other's company outside of rehearsals!

The Table of the Lord has no physical boundaries. This week, I opened a portable communion kit lined with aged red velvet and packed with the vessels of our tradition to share the Holy Mysteries with Roberta Case and Eleanor Whitehead at Still Hopes.

Roberta’s enduring generosity helped shape the physical legacy of our Case Room and the art in our narthex, while Eleanor served our parish alongside her late husband, The Rev. Dr. Phillip Whitehead, for nearly three decades. Carrying the consecrated bread and w**e from our Sunday altar directly to their table is not simply pastoral care—it is the active work of a Jesus-centered discipling community refusing to leave anyone behind.

To preach, teach, heal, and make disciples means extending Christ’s healing presence beyond our sanctuary walls. We are equipping and licensing a dedicated cohort of Lay Eucharistic Visitors to carry the Sacrament across our city. Send us message to get involved.
