"Looking for a flexible, creative role this school year? SMAA is hiring a part-time Communications Coordinator ($8k stipend)

We are looking for someone to help tell the story of our church and Early Learning Center!

Whether you are a college student building a portfolio, a parent looking for flexible hours, or a local freelancer with a great eye for design, we want to hear from you. This role is all about capturing the life of our Jesus-centered discipling community—creating Instagram Reels, managing our social media, taking photos, and designing our weekly newsletter.

The Details:
Timeframe: May 20 – August 15

Commitment: 15–20 hours per week (Flexible office hours ; on-site 3 days per week )

Compensation: $8000.00

If you have a clean design aesthetic and a knack for visual storytelling, come help us show the community that Love Grows Here.

How to Apply:
Send your resume, a brief note about why you are a great fit, and a link to examples of your past work (a digital portfolio, social media accounts you manage, or a curated Google folder) to [email protected].

(Know someone who would be perfect for this? Tag them in the comments below!)

We are blessed to welcome Nathan Pearson into the Body of Christ on Pentecost this Sunday. He, Fr. Bryan, and Stephanie travel back from Virginia for his Holy Baptism at St. Michael's.

What happens at the font? Baptism systematically grafts a person into a living, spiritual organism. As St. Paul reminds us, "For in the one Spirit we were all baptized into one body." Nathan leaves this week marked permanently as Christ's own.

Join us at St. Michael's this week as we continue to unpack the gift of Pentecost. Love Grows Here.

In a world of "off-the-rack" experiences, SMAA is committed to something deeper. We are moving beyond being a community that simply "welcomes" to one that is intentionally invitational.

This past weekend, our vicar, Charles Smith, graduated with his Doctor of Ministry from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. This isn't just an academic achievement for one leader; it’s a sharpening of the tools for our entire Jesus-centered discipling community.

Much like the meticulous discipline of dialing in the perfect tone on a vintage amplifier, this season of study was about refining how we Preach. Teach. Heal. and Make Disciples. Whether you are an ELC parent looking for a foundation where Love Grows Here, or a long-time parishioner seeking scholarly depth, this milestone ensures our "master pattern" for discipleship is bespoke and built to last.

We celebrate this milestone not as a finish line, but as a "resting period" to prepare for the work ahead. We are ready to invite you deeper into a life where excellence meets reverence.

Are you a Tuesday Atheist?

You can tune a guitar perfectly at the headstock on Sunday morning—saying the Creed, receiving the Eucharist, and sounding perfectly aligned. But as the pressure mounts and you move higher up the fretboard of the week, how quickly does your life go out of tune?

Most of us don't verbally deny Jesus. Instead, we look at our 401(k), our resumes, and our calendars, and functionally decide we don't need divine intervention to survive the week.

This Sunday, our Jesus-centered discipling community is tackling Psalm 53 and John 1. We are moving past Sunday morning platitudes and looking at what it actually means for the Word to become flesh and pitch His tent in the middle of our chaotic, out-of-tune lives.

Stop relying entirely on your own strength. Come ready to wrestle with the text.

Class begins this Sunday at 9:00 AM

"Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ." — Galatians 6:2

At SMAA, we believe the "Law of Christ" is best fulfilled with dirty hands. This week, the SMAA Works team lived out our mission to Heal by reclaiming a yard for a parishioner sidelined by surgery.

When one member of our discipling community is weakened, the rest of us provide the strength. We don't just maintain properties; we maintain the bonds of our church. This is the grit of the Gospel—showing up when the weeds are high and the strength is low.

Whether you have a burden that needs sharing or a pair of hands ready to serve, there is a place for you in this work.

In Acts 2:42, the first disciples devoted themselves to a specific rhythm: the apostles' teaching, the fellowship, the breaking of bread, and the prayers. This isn't ancient history—it is the blueprint for SMAA.

This past Saturday at the home of Kathy Davis, our community moved beyond the pews. We gathered not to escape the world, but to be "devoted" to one another. When we break bread (or share tea) in each other's homes, we are practicing the vital hospitality required to Make Disciples. This is the friction of real life meeting the fire of the Gospel.

Come out tomorrow (March 10) from 6-8 PM for an evening with Relics. We will have a piece of the cross Jesus died on there. Here is a substack post to give you some context

The Bible is weirder than you think. Making the ancient, hands-on case for holy relics and the saints who pray for us.

Weather Update: Services Moving Online February 1, 2026

Friends,

With the current weather conditions in mind, we are prioritizing everyone's safety this weekend. In-person worship and our in-person Confirmation class are cancelled for this Sunday.

While we won’t be gathering in the sanctuary, we will still worship together. Please join us for worship service on Facebook at 10:00 AM. It is a blessing to be able to stay connected and lift our hearts in prayer, even when we are miles apart.
