God loves us even though very often we are not loveable. He says to us that He wants us to love Him and to worship Him. Why does He say that? Because He knows that we can so very easily get entangled in life and forget the Giver of life. We don’t mean to do that, but we all do it at times. Let us redouble our efforts as children of God, to not allow ourselves to become entangled in the pleasures of this world. What we see today and think we “just must have” is tomorrow’s junk. Let us put our focus on the eternal things of God which never change and never become tomorrow’s junk! May the love of God and the peace of God be yours in all the days ahead.

We are to have no other gods before God Almighty and we are to love Him with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. Let us consider this love. The Bible says that God loved us before we even knew who He was. He did not love us because we were so good, so cute, so smart, so strong, or so handsome, etc. He loved us because He is love. Now we have a choice: We can choose to love God or we can choose not to love God. This choice is ours. Our love for God should cause everything that we say, think, or do to be a reflection of the love of God in our lives.

The love that God has for mankind was manifest in Jesus who came as the Son of God, Savior of the world. When we choose Jesus as our Savior and Lord, we are choosing God’s love. We are leaving behind all our old ways: ill temper, bad feelings, bad thoughts, bad actions, lying, stealing, cheating, wrong lifestyles, because the love of God causes us to repent of our sins and choose Jesus. When I think on the love of God, it is more than I can comprehend, but HE LOVES YOU AND ME. God is good! All the time!

Let us remember that even when we do foolish things, God does not forsake us. He is always there when we repent and return to Him.

Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory. My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.

When we consider all the disturbing things that seem to keep happening on a daily basis, despair tries to take over our thoughts. We must not let that happen. NOW is the time for us to arise and shine because the light of Jesus lives in us. We must STAND UP for what we believe and we must believe what the Bible says. We must be convinced that Jesus is our peace, our safety, our strength, our Redeemer, our life, our provider, our hope! We must KNOW that HE is ALL we need. Then we must stand on what we believe without compromise or fear. THESE ARE THE DAYS OF ELIJAH!

Sometimes it seems that we are going in all directions. On every hand demands are being made on us that brings us to the point of total frustration and sometimes anger. What are we to do? We are supposed to be the ADULTS in this situation! You may be thinking I wish I was a kid again, but that is not the way life is. In these times we must go to Jesus and He will give us rest. Rest for our minds, our wills, and our emotions so that we can go on with life in victory. Don’t let the “stuff” of life get you down. Jesus said to come to Him and He will, not maybe He will or He might, He WILL give you rest!

When we come to Jesus for rest, we must believe that He will give it and we must receive that rest. Jesus said in the book of John that He would not leave us comfortless or as orphans, but the Holy Spirit would live in us to comfort and guide us in life. If we are children of God, the Holy Spirit lives within us and will help us with life. Many times, our problem is that we do not remember that the Holy Spirit is God’s presence which LIVES IN US. We do not always need to go to a quiet place for His presence to give us strength. When we say, “Help me, Lord”. He is right there inside of us to give us help and direction. He loves us and He desires that we realize that He is always with us!

As we live from day to day, many things that we do or say or think are not right according to God. We must confess our faults to God and ask Him to cleanse us, forgive us, and help us with life. He is willing to forgive us of our sin and He does not hold our sin against us when we repent. On the other hand, people do things and say things to us that are not right. What is out response? Are we willing to forgive them or do we feel that we have the “right” to be angry with them? How about if we forgive them, but do we forget the wrongful words or deed? Do you keep in your memory banks a wrong that was done to you years ago and bring it back up to the person who was responsible for doing it as if it happened yesterday? We must remember that God freely forgives and forgets. We should do the same.

There are some things written in God’s Word that we are to do. The first thing that we are directed to do is to have NO OTHER gods BEFORE GOD ALMIGHTY. Many times we think that we don’t have other gods before God, but we fail to recognize that we have not put God first in our thinking, our actions, and our lives. In our personal lives we need to consider honestly the position that God and His instructions hold for us. Is He first? Is He last? Or is what He has said in His Word not even considered? May God be merciful to us as we make the needed corrections.
