God Can Ministries UCC

God Can Ministries UCC We are a risk-taking, justice-seeking, disciple-making, open and affirming congregation of the Unite God is love and we must represent God.

Our Core Values
God Can Ministries core values are rooted in the faith tradition of our founding fathers and mothers and expand to contemporary understanding of the Gospel of Jesus Christ remembering that God is still speaking. God Can Ministries believes that love is foundational to all we are called to do. We must show our love; especially in the ways we treat one another and the stranger. God

Can Ministries values ecumenism, diversity and inclusivity. We recognize the inherent value and dignity of each person as one created in God’s image, body, mind, and spirit. We value and treat all people regardless of their race, ethnicity, religion, physical or mental ability, culture, age, economic status, gender identity or sexual orientation, with love and respect. We welcome all people who welcome all people. God Can Ministries values commitment and integrity understanding that Faith alone is not adequate. God calls the church to hard work, letting our” yes be our yes and our no being our no.”
God Can Ministries values families. We recognize that families come in all forms, (traditional two parent families, single parent families, same gender loving families, and blended families. God Can Ministries affirm that central to the survival of African American communities is strengthening the family. God Can Ministries believes in the priesthood of all believers with commitment to mutual collaboration between laity and clergy in ministry. God Can Ministries values the principle of Ubuntu. As a church and community we are tied to one another through our humanity and our collective survival depends on our helping one another. Our spiritual formation calls us into action within our community through works of justice, advocacy, social action, and economic development. God Can Ministries is committed to boldness in the proclamation of the Word of God and excellence in ministry that reaches all people with the good news proclaimed in Jesus Christ. In every area of ministry we reflect a commitment to justice, inclusiveness, nondiscrimination, prophetic proclamation, and equal access to every means of grace and opportunity provided by God. God Can Ministries promotes good stewardship that wisely utilizes and conserves all that God has given us in all created order.

Grace and Peace Beloveds,

At this special and sacred time of the year, I wish to extend to you and your loved ones Christmas greetings and best wishes for the New Year. While we might recall difficult times and frustrations in 2021, I pray that our Lord Jesus Christ will come into your life with God’s blessings of Love, Joy Peace and Hope.

Experiencing a meaningful Christmas is not in buying more gifts, preparing and hosting extravagant meals or decorating more elaborately, all activities I love. Rather, it is in putting Christ first, focusing on what matters most, and then sharing that with others. Our Christmas celebrations can be a time to pause and reflect on the love that God has for us, and then find a way to share that love with others.

Know that you are well loved. I pray you Christmas blessings on behalf of Michael, Imani, Amira and Drystin and myself. Merry Christmas!!!
