Celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Pastor’s Ordination--On June 14th at Bethel at 12:30 PM, we will be celebrating the 25th anniversary of Pastor Barbara Love’s ordination. The churches will provide refreshments and cake. Please bring something to share. Come help celebrate the Pastor’s anniversary. All are welcome!

Sympathies of the congregations are extended to Ken Crail and family on the recent passing of his wife, Clare, who passed away on May 10.

March 23, 1944 — May 10, 2026
Clare C. (Todd) Crail, 82 of Ford City passed away in her home Sunday May 10th 2026.

She was born March 23, 1944 in Tarentum. A daughter of the late Clarence H. and Mary Louise (Shearer) Todd.

She was a graduate of Leechburg High School and graduated from Mason & Felix Cosmetology School.

Clare was a long time member of the Bethel Lutheran Church, sang in the choir as well as a care-taker for the cemetery. She also volunteered with the Bethel Twp Ladies Auxiliary, and Bethel Twp Food Bank.

She is survived by her husband of 57 yrs. Kenneth A. Crail of Ford City. Three sisters Jennifer (Michael) Klazon, Asenath (Gary) Ritenour, and Amy (Colin) Glendenning all of Apollo. Three nephews Jason, Nathan, and Todd (favorite). Two nieces Melissa and Kayla.

A special Thank You to the Suncrest Hospice Team for their love, care, and support.

Save the date: Joint Outdoor Service and Picnic-- We are planning on having the joint outdoor service and picnic on Sunday, July 19. It will be held at Crooked Creek Park at the Liberty and Constitution Pavilions. The Service will begin at 10 AM and the picnic will follow, rain or shine. Please bring a covered dish to share, if you are able, and a chair. Bishop Melissa Stoller will be preaching that day. Hope to see you all there!

Mother’s Day/Rogation Sunday and Joint Service
Rogation Sunday will be held on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 10 after service at United Rockville, 10 AM. At this service, we will, also, celebrate Rogation Sunday the blessing of fields and seeds as the growing season begins. After service and as part of the rogation Sunday we will pot plants for our mothers or that special woman in your life. This is a Joint Service and will be the only service on that day. All are welcome!

Our condolences to Kathy Mechling and family on the passing of George R. Mechling who passed away in his home on Monday, April 27,2026.

George R. Mechling, 86, of Ford City passed away peacefully surrounded by family in his home on Monday, April 27,2026.

Born April 30,1939 in Kittanning, he was the son of the late Floyd F. and Rhoda Marie (Jordan) Mechling, Sr.

George was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving his country from 1959- 1964. He was a longtime active member of United Rockville Lutheran Church and served as the cemetery sextant at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery for over 40 years. He sang in the church choir for many years and served on church council.

George enjoyed hunting in his younger years, keeping his yard looking neat and manicured. He liked watching the Pittsburgh Pirates, Steelers, and Penguins play. George loved his family and cherished his time with them.

In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by sister Edna Molchen and brothers Darrel Mechling, Floyd Mechling, Jr., and Chester Mechling.

He is survived by his beloved wife of over 66 years Kathleen (Miller)Mechling; sons David G. Mechling of Ford City and Michael R. (Christine) Mechling of Worthington; grandchildren Bryan (Denise) and Brittany (Gavin); 5 great-grandchildren; extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 30,2026 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in the Mantini Funeral Home, Inc.,701 Sixth Avenue, Ford City. Funeral service will be held Friday, May 1,2026 in the funeral home at 10 AM with Pastor Barbara Love as officiant. Interment to follow in St. John’s Cemetery on Little Germany Road, Ford City.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to: United Rockville Lutheran Church, c/o St John and Shotts Cemetery Fund, 720 State Route 2020, Ford City, PA 16226
