DAY 1 OF OUR 3-DAY FAST
Theme: Faith to Follow
Scripture: Hebrews 5:12–14 (KJV)
“But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age… even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.”
Devotional Thought- Faith is more than believing God when we can see what He is doing. Faith is trusting Him enough to follow when we cannot see what comes next.
Ruth demonstrated this kind of faith. She left behind what was familiar without knowing what awaited her in Bethlehem. She had no guarantee of how things would work out, yet she made the decision to go forward, declaring, “Thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God.” (Ruth 1:16)
Hebrews 5 teaches us that as we mature spiritually, our senses are exercised. We learn to recognize God’s leading, trust His Word, and walk according to what He has spoken rather than what we can see.
There are seasons when God will not show us the entire plan. He simply asks us to trust Him with the next step. Ruth could not see Boaz, provision, restoration, or the legacy that would come through her obedience. She simply had faith to follow.
As we begin this fast, may our faith become stronger than our need to know every detail. May we trust God’s direction, obey His voice, and believe that what He has ahead is greater than what we leave behind.
Prayer Focus
• Faith to trust God beyond what we can see
• Courage to follow God into unfamiliar places
• Greater sensitivity to God’s voice and direction
• Strength to obey even when we do not understand
• Faith to believe that God is working ahead of us
Declaration
I will walk by faith and not by sight. I do not need to see the entire path to trust the One who is leading me. My faith is growing, my discernment is becoming stronger, and I will follow wherever God leads.
