After a night without much sleep we're preparing to board our flight from San Diego to Minneapolis, and from there on to Milwaukee. We are looking forward to being home, but already miss Mexico.

06/01/2019

We have finished a busy week in Mexico and are preparing to start our journey home. Our flight leaves San Diego at 6:20 am, but we are heading to the airport tonight to avoid problems that may arise with waking up at 2:00 am, crossing an international border, and returning a rental van.

2019-05-26 Team from Trinity Baptist Church (Fond du Lac, WI) - We are so excited to have the team from Trinity here with us! After attending church at CCR on Sunday morning, we gave them a few hours off so they could soak in some local culture (which of course included food and shopping), as well as a little time at the beach.

In the evening, the children from Niños Con Fe orphanage came over to the dorms. They loved having some time to run around and play some basketball, soccer, ping pong, and fuseball! After the team served them some dinner, we gathered on the roof for a campfire and some worship. A huge thank you to our son-in-law, Brian, his brother, Aldrin, friend, Israel, and our daughter, Brittany, for leading some bilingual worship!

The team will be serving most of this week at the orphanage. Around the campfire, Gabriel, the director of the orphanage, shared about how they got started and about the current project. It is a 2 story building that will allow them to house about 20 more children!

On Tuesday we continued working on the roof and hanging insulation and drywall inside Nino's Con Fe orphanage. Some of the older boys who live there are also working on finishing the second floor which will be a living space for older boys, including some who have aged out of the system but still need the support of the family environment that Gabriel and America provide at Nino's Con Fe.

When work finished we came back to Connections House and got cleaned up and went out for tacos. They were delicious and several of us ate way too much.

05/27/2019

Our first full day in Rosarito is finished. After breakfast we went to church with Ron and Kristy, our hosts here in Mexico. At church we participated in communion and watched a baptism before being reminded from Genesis 1:1 the importance of taking God at His word from the first verse of the Bible to the last.

We relaxed a bit in the afternoon by going out for fish tacos, and then visiting a market, and spending some time on the beach.

This evening the kids and staff from the orphanage we will be working on joined us at Connections House for games, dinner, and singing around a campfire. It was a great opportunity to get to know the people we will be serving alongside this week.

Tomorrow we will get to work roofing and drywalling an addition to the orphanage which, when finished, will increase their capacity for children from 20 to 50.

Please pray for protection as we work. Pray that our hearts will be tender for opportunities to demonstrate God's love. Pray most of all that everything we do, say, and think will honor and glorify God.

Team Mexico made the trip successfully yesterday. Although there were flight delays and some minor issues we made it down to Rosarito. Today we fellowship with the Calvary Chapel Church and will have lunch at a local fish taco restaurant. Ron and Kristy have been gracious hosts and we enjoyed fellowship with them last night.
The view from the Connections center looks over the Ocean and is beautiful. Temperature is in the low 60’s but will warm up through the day. Everybody from the team wants to send their greetings to loved ones and our church family. We will keep you all up to date as we can.

We have arrived safely at Connections House.
