God is Moving at ReFocus Christian Church

At ReFocus Christian Church, we believe God is actively working in and through our church. We are in a season of transformation—refocusing our ministry on the foundational elements of the Christian faith. Our desire is to live simply, serve boldly, and love deeply. We are committed to doing whatever it takes to meet the real needs of our community, while

also helping believers grow in their understanding of Scripture and their personal walk with God. Originally founded in the early 1900s, ReFocus holds tightly to the timeless truths of the Bible. At the same time, we’re reimagining church for those who have walked away—those who’ve been hurt, disillusioned, or simply feel like they no longer belong. We’re not interested in religion for religion’s sake. We’re about Jesus, community, and a fresh start.

Day 3: The Father Who Waits

Reading: Luke 15:11-24

Devotional: The father in this parable never stopped watching the road. Every day he looked for his son's return, hope unwavering despite the rejection. When the son finally appears, broken and ashamed, the father doesn't lecture or condemn—he runs. He restores. He celebrates. This is God's heart toward you. He doesn't force you to stay, but He never stops hoping you'll come home. Your past failures, your wild living, your wasted inheritance—none of it changes His love. God's disposition toward you has never shifted. He's not angry or disappointed in a way that diminishes His love. He's waiting with open arms, ready to restore you to your rightful place as His child. Coming home doesn't require perfection; it requires surrender.

Reflection Question: What keeps you from fully coming home to the Father today?

Day 2: The Shepherd Who Searches

Reading: Luke 15:1-7

Devotional: The sheep didn't know it was lost. It simply wandered away, unaware of the danger it faced or the separation from its flock. This is humanity's condition—we don't always recognize we're lost until Someone comes searching. Jesus is the Good Shepherd who leaves the ninety-nine to pursue the one. He doesn't wait for us to find our way back; He comes after us. His pursuit isn't passive—it's active, intentional, and relentless. The shepherd "joyfully" carries the sheep home. Your rescue brings heaven joy. You matter that much. Jesus stepped into human history, into your personal story, not because you earned it, but because He loves you that profoundly. His search for you began long before you ever thought to look for Him.

Reflection Question: How does knowing Jesus actively pursued you change your understanding of your worth?

Reading: Romans 3:9-24

Devotional: We live in a world that tells us we can fix ourselves—work harder, try more, be better. But Scripture reveals a difficult truth: sin has corrupted everything. From the Garden of Eden forward, humanity has been separated from the perfection God intended. Paul makes it clear that "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." This isn't meant to discourage us but to help us see our desperate need. We cannot bootstrap our way to righteousness. Recognition of our brokenness is the first step toward healing. Today, honestly acknowledge where you've tried to save yourself. Confess your inability to fix what's broken within you. This humble admission opens the door to receiving what only God can provide.

Reflection Question: Where have you been trying to fix yourself instead of surrendering to God?

Day 5: God's Plan Prevails

Reading: Romans 8:28-39

Devotional: "This wasn't the plan," we cry when life falls apart. But Paul reminds us that God works ALL things—not just the good things—together for those who love Him. Mary and Joseph didn't plan a virgin birth or fleeing to Egypt with a newborn. Abraham didn't plan to nearly sacrifice Isaac. Joseph didn't plan prison. Stephen didn't plan martyrdom. Yet God's plan prevailed through every unexpected turn.

Nothing—not death, life, angels, demons, present, future, height, depth, or anything in creation—can separate you from God's love. Your circumstances don't determine God's faithfulness. His character does. When life derails your plans, remember: God is still God. His plans are perfect even when yours are shattered. The same God who brought Jesus through death to resurrection can bring you through your valley to victory. Trust Him with what you don't understand.

Day 4: Faithful in the Fire

Reading: Acts 6:8-15; 7:54-60

Devotional: Stephen's faithfulness led to his death. He served widows, spoke truth, and was stoned for it. Yet even in his final moments, he saw heaven opened and Jesus standing. His martyrdom wasn't failure—it was fuel for the early church's expansion. Saul, who watched Stephen die, would become Paul, Christianity's greatest missionary.

Sometimes our obedience costs us everything, and we never see the fruit. But God does. Stephen didn't know his death would impact Saul. He simply remained faithful. Your hardest season might be planting seeds you'll never harvest, but God wastes nothing. Every sacrifice, every act of faithfulness, every moment of choosing God over comfort ripples into eternity. Don't measure success by immediate outcomes. Measure it by obedience.

Day 3: Prison to Palace

Reading: Genesis 39:1-6, 19-23; 41:37-43

Devotional: Joseph did everything right and still ended up in prison. Integrity didn't protect him from false accusations. Faithfulness didn't prevent forgotten years. Yet Scripture repeatedly says, "the LORD was with Joseph." God's presence doesn't eliminate hardship; it sustains us through it.

Joseph's story reminds us that God is working even when we can't see it. Every injustice, every forgotten moment, every prison season was positioning Joseph for purpose. The same God who was with Joseph in the pit was with him in the palace. Your current chapter isn't your final story. God is writing something bigger than your present pain can comprehend. The question isn't whether God is present in your struggle—He is. The question is: will you trust Him while you wait for the reveal?

Day 2: Faith in the Valley

Reading: Genesis 22:1-14

Devotional: Abraham's faith didn't develop overnight. After decades of walking with God—through promises, waiting, and finally receiving Isaac—God asked the unthinkable: sacrifice your son. Abraham's response reveals faith forged through years of seeing God's faithfulness. He trusted not because the situation made sense, but because he knew who God was.

We often want mountain-top faith without valley experiences. But authentic trust is built in the difficult places where we choose to believe God's character over our circumstances. Abraham didn't understand God's plan, but he understood God's nature. That's the difference. When life throws its worst at you, remember: your faith isn't about understanding everything; it's about knowing the One who does. What valley is God using to deepen your trust today?
