This church was organized with 10 charter members on September 26, 1926, by District Superintendent, Rev. This organization followed a tent revival with Rev. This revival was sponsored by Louisville First Church and the Kentucky District. The ground-breaking ceremony for the first church building was held June 21, 1927, under the leadership of Rev. Fred Carby, the first pastor. The congregation ma
rched to First Church of the Nazarene, the building on 602 W. Market Street in New Albany, on November 23, 1947. The dedication was held on September 10, 1950, with Dr. G.B. Williamson, General Superintendent, as the special speaker. Collins was the pastor during the building project. In 1965, a two-story annex was built under the ministry of Rev. C.R. Thrasher. In 1977, a Christian Activities Building was completed under the ministry of Rev. John Williamson. In 1995, eight acres were acquired on Old Vincennes Road in Floyd County for the purpose of relocation. Construction began December 1997 and was finished October 1998. We dedicated our new bulding on October 4, 1998, with our own singers and resident Pastor, Gary Arnold. The new name of our church is Heartland Church of the Nazarene. We celebrate all the accomplishments of the past and now the opportunity to serve the people in the heart of Floyd County.
