For my dear brothers that consider Sunday as the Sabbath I can't help but wonder why Paul always refered to Sunday as the 1st day of the week but never the Sabbath

1 Thessalonians 1:2-3; "We gives thanks to God always for all of you, constantly mentioning you in our prayers, remembering before our God and Father your work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ." We also see in verse 8 that the faith of the saints at Thessalonica was such that Paul says it sounded forth throughout Macedonia and Achaia and everywhere. (So how is your work of faith and labor of love? Your faith will be known by your labor of love. So how well known is your faith?)

Let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. "Hebrews 10:24 & 25"

Paul says in Philippians 2:12-13 "work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure." There's a lot to unpack in these verses, but the main things that are very apparent is that there is work to be done by the believer and most importantly these works are pleasing to God.

I know several people who claim Christ as their Saviour yet don't spend time once a week to worship Him and to spend time with other believers that would be their brothers and sisters in Christ. "I don't understand this."

We're told in Philippians 2:12-13 to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in us, both to will and to work for His good pleasure. (John MacArthur says, "the Greek verb rendered "work out" means to continually work to bring something to fulfillment or completion. It cannot refer to salvation by works, but it does refer to the believer's responsibility for active pursuit of obedience in the process of sanctification.") Notice that God is pleased with us as we strive to be obedient.

Colossians 3:1-2; "If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things that are above, not on things that are on the earth." (Heavenly thoughts can only come by understanding heavenly realities from scripture)

Psalm 19:7-10; "The Law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the LORD is true, making wise the simple; the precepts of the LORD or right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes; the fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; the rules of the LORD are true, and righteous altogether.
