What a beautiful Sunday at Cross Keys! 🙌

This morning, we had the incredible honor of celebrating three baptisms as Carlito Morgan, KyMani Morgan, and Derrick Flannel publicly proclaimed their faith in Jesus Christ through baptism!

Baptism is a picture of the Gospel—dying to our old life, being raised to new life in Christ, and publicly declaring that we belong to Him. What a joy to celebrate what God is doing in their lives!

Carlito, KyMani, and Derrick—we are so proud of you and excited to see how God continues to work in and through your lives!

đź’§ Baptism Sunday! đź’§

This Sunday is going to be a beautiful celebration as we witness three of our youth take the next step in their faith through baptism! 🙌

We’ll begin our worship service with these baptisms as we celebrate their decision to follow Jesus and publicly identify with Him.

And the celebration doesn’t stop there! 🎉 After service, join us in the Fellowship Hall for cake as we celebrate with our baptism candidates and their families.

We’ll also gather around the Lord’s Table as we partake in Communion together.

Two ordinances. One Sunday. One Savior. ❤️

Baptism and Communion remind us of the Gospel we believe, the Savior we follow, and the church family we share.

Come celebrate with us this Sunday at 10:30 AM!

We can’t wait to worship and celebrate together!

More than a Seat in a Pew
đź“–Romans 16:1-12

Yesterday at Cross Keys, we looked at Romans 16 and what it teaches us about the role of women in the church.

As we continue our call to be disciples who make disciples, we were reminded that the Christian life is not a spectator sport. God has gifted every believer—men and women alike—to serve, lead, teach, labor, and make disciples.

Through the women Paul mentions in Romans 16, we saw three important truths:

🔹 Women are called to serve the church.
Paul begins by commending Phoebe, a faithful servant of the church in Cenchreae. The Greek word Paul uses is diakonos, the same word from which we get “deacon.” While translations differ on how the word should be understood here, there is strong biblical and historical evidence for understanding Phoebe as a deacon.

🔹 Women are called to lead and use their gifts.
Priscilla served alongside Aquila and helped teach Apollos the way of God more accurately. Throughout Scripture, women are shown actively participating in the mission of God.

🔹 Women are called to labor for the Lord.
Mary, Junia, Tryphaena, Tryphosa, and Persis are remembered because of their hard work for the Kingdom. They weren't simply sitting in the pew—they were working for the advancement of the Gospel.

Romans 16 is more than a list of names. It is a picture of a healthy church: men and women working together, serving together, teaching together, and laboring together for the Gospel.

Too often, we believe the lie: “I can’t do ______ because I’m a woman.”

But Scripture challenges us to ask a different question: “Lord, what have You called me to do?”

Whether it’s serving on a committee, teaching, leading a ministry, volunteering, discipling someone, or going on a mission trip, there is a place for you in the mission of God.

You are more than a seat in a pew. You are part of the Body. You have a role to play.

“...heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ.” — Romans 8:17

đź’™ Serving Together, Making a Difference

We were blessed to have Davina and Brandon from Reach Reproductive Health with us during worship. Reach is a valued ministry partner of Cross Keys, and we are grateful for the opportunity to work together to support parents and families in our community.

They shared about the important work Reach Reproductive Health is doing—including the weekly parenting classes hosted right here at Cross Keys. These classes provide an opportunity to encourage, equip, and walk alongside parents as they navigate the journey of raising their children.

And there are some great next steps for YOU to be part of this ministry partnership:

👶 Volunteer for childcare during the parenting classes
🍽️ Sponsor a meal for the parents attending
🤝 Become a mentor and walk alongside a parent

Ministry isn’t just about what happens inside the walls of the church. It’s about going, serving, loving, and walking with people as they take their next steps.

We’re thankful for our partnership with Reach and excited about the ways God can use Cross Keys + Reach to make a lasting difference in the lives of families.

Let’s serve together. Let’s love our community. Let’s be the hands and feet of Jesus. 💙

🎓📚 Blessing Our Students & Teachers! 🍎✏️

Today was a special day at Cross Keys as we gathered to pray over and bless our students, teachers, and school staff as they begin a new school year! We are praying for wisdom, strength, protection, and opportunities to make a difference in the lives of those around them. We’re excited to see how God will work through our students and educators this year!

Today also marked an exciting step forward for our Family Ministry at Cross Keys! We are looking forward to expanding our ministry to children, students, and families as we seek to help the next generation Worship, Grow, Serve, and Go!

We are excited to announce:

👧 Andie Wehmeyer will be joining our leadership team as our new Children’s Ministry Director, overseeing and developing ministry opportunities for children from birth through 5th grade.

🙌 Hope Hamilton will be transitioning from Youth Leader to Youth Director, helping us strengthen and expand our ministry to students in 6th–12th grade.

These transitions are part of our desire to build a stronger, more intentional Family Ministry that comes alongside parents, disciples the next generation, and helps families grow together in their relationship with Jesus.

The future of Family Ministry at Cross Keys is exciting, and we can’t wait to see what God is going to do! 💙

Join us in praying for Andie, Hope, our families, our students, and all of our teachers as we begin a new school year!

This morning, the men of Cross Keys gathered for our monthly breakfast—a time of good food, fellowship, and meaningful conversation about the future of our church.

As we look toward 2027, we spent time discussing the direction of our Men’s Ministry and the broader need for a shift in mentality across our church ministries.

We don’t want to simply do ministry. We want to make disciples.

That means moving beyond programs and events to intentionally help people Worship → Grow → Serve → Go—and equipping them to make disciples themselves.

There is a desperate need for us to think differently about ministry, and we’re praying and planning for how God wants to use us in the year ahead.

The goal isn’t bigger ministry. The goal is deeper discipleship.

📚🍎 Back to School Blessing!

Tonight, some of our Cross Keys family gathered to pack goody bags for the teachers and staff at our adopted schools! We’re excited to remind these incredible educators that they are loved, appreciated, and being prayed for as they begin a new school year.

A special thank you to the teachers from our own congregation who joined us tonight and helped pack bags for their fellow educators! ❤️

After we packed the bags, we took time to pray for the teachers and staff members who will receive them—asking God to give them strength, wisdom, patience, and encouragement as they begin a new school year.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to bless those who pour so much into our students every day. 🍎📚
