We are getting ready for our Annual Christmas in the Village Decoration Competition. We will have a winner for residential and a winner for best decorated business!

*We only judge the outside of the property, no inside decorations will be counted & only applies to residential/business owners inside city limits!

All homeowners and business owners need to have their locations decorated by November 28th. They will be judged on the night of November 28th. Both winners will receive a decorative yard sign to display for the month of December. If you have any questions, please call our office at 318-586-7286.

9/11 Honor Walk

There was a great turnout for the 9/11 honor walk. Numerous police agencies, towns, fire districts, civilians, along with both students from Florien High School and Hornbeck High School were able to attend.

🇺🇸May we never forget the reason behind the walk. 🇺🇸

Florien Fire Chief, Douglas Downs said it best when he spoke of the amazing community we are blessed to call home.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, including the recent major fires, our department has not been able to promote our 9/11 GEAR/HONOR WALK as we would have liked.

Many people have asked how they could help with this event. I would like to invite all who want to participate, to join us as we walk from Gandy Baptist Church to the Florien Fire Station on September 11th, 2023 at 8:00 a.m. We will have water and Gatorade drinks available along the way. We will also have EMS on site.

Several of our members will be in full turnout gear to honor our fallen brothers who perished in the 09/11 attack on the Twin Towers in 2001. Please join us as WE REMEMBER those who lay down their lives that day!!

The ZHS student body collected a donation for our FHS students that lost their homes in the recent fires. Thank you ZHS! We are amazed at your thoughtfulness and generosity.

A message from Mayor Eddie Jones Jr.

Again, I just wanted to send a message thanking everyone for all the help and generosity that has been given these last few days for all of the folks in the Village of Florien and surrounding communities. It is comforting to see everyone in the community come together when others are in dire need.

In addition a heartfelt thank you goes out to all of the other people and organizations around the state who have sent donations, help, and prayers to our community during this time. Currently we have an abundance of clothes, food, and other personal items for those who are in need. To my knowledge everyone's immediate needs have been met.

A special thanks goes out to all of the firefighters, first responders, police officers, and volunteers who helped to get this situation under control and keep our community safe. Without all involved, this bad situation could have been much worse.

Please be mindful of the extreme danger that we are currently experiencing with the extreme heat and drought situation.

There will be a prayer vigil at the Village Square next to the Florien Civic Center tonight at
7:00 p.m. for anyone who would like to attend. The focus will be on lifting up all that have been involved in the events over the last few days as well as prayer for rain.

The Civic Center will close at 7:00 PM tonight. It will reopen tomorrow morning at 8:00 AM.

There has been numerous clothing donations brought to the Florien Civic Center. If you or someone you know is in need after being displaced from the fire, please go and get items needed. There is water, food, and hygiene items as well!
