Amazing Grace Lutheran Church - WELS We are a family of believers who gather around the Word of God every Sunday as we learn of God's Amazing Grace which he showers us with each day.

Amazing Grace Lutheran Church Mission

"Is God's Word in Action"

This means that we:

Go and share God's Word with the World by supporting World Missions. Serve our community's spiritual needs with love, using Jesus Christ as our example. Nurture our family of members with opportunities to worship God and learn from His Word, while showing the love of Christ with our concern for each other. Give

glory to God in all that we do. What is Amazing Grace? Amazing Grace describes the love which Christ has for each of us. Amazing Grace is the love that lead Christ to die for our sins that we may go to heaven. Amazing Grace is knowing we have a place in heaven. Amazing Grace is what God has done for you. Amazing Grace is also a family of believers who gather around the Word of God every Sunday at 7804 Pleasant Valley Road. Please come and join us as we learn of God's Amazing Grace which he showers us with each day. Sunday Worship

Every church has its own style of worship. We feel you'll like the service at Amazing Grace Lutheran Church. Every service is printed out completely in the service folder (bulletin) and also displayed on a large screen. Our services focus on readings from the Bible. There will be several Bible readings as well as a 10-15 minute sermon which takes a Bible reading and applies it to our daily lives. Music and singing are also an important part of our worship. Listen to the singing and before long you'll be singing, too. Loud or soft, in monotone or rich harmony, all our praises are music to God. Using contemporary language, God's Word is applied to our lives as His children. God's Word is rich in promises for those who believe it. Come and hear the promises God has made to you.

Pastors lead their churches. They get to know their people well, and often pastors are beloved. That makes it a special day when a pastor returns to visit a previous congregation.

This coming Sunday, Amazing Grace's previous pastor, Pastor Wilke, will be visiting us! Come join us for worship and say hi, especially if he served you when he was here! (Worship starts at 10 on Sunday!)

But it's also stupid hot. So we won't ACTUALLY worship around the fire tonight. We'll meet inside around air conditioning.

Your sin does not own you. Your shame does not own you. What you did does not own you.

God has adopted you into his family. He paid for your adoption.

You are his.

Temptation is hard to fight! Yesterday we talked about how to fight it better:

See sin as evil! It's not a mistake. If it's just a mistake, it's annoying, it's frustrating, but it's not something you have to FIGHT.

Hate sin! It's not something that's good!

See how good God's Law is. We often focus on how good God's grace is -- and it's worth focusing on! -- but God's Law is ALSO good and given for our good.

Remember who you are and who is in you. If anyone is in Christ, they ARE a new creation! You ARE God's child. Not based on what you do, not based on how many temptations you succeed in fighting. While you were still a sinner, Christ Jesus loved you. Remember you are God's child! However, you do have a sinful nature. You are not your sinful nature, but you have it. And that sinful nature wants you dead. So go back and remember who you are!

Despair of your own strength. Let's be honest: We give into temptation. St. Paul called himself a wretch and despaired! He looked for strength somewhere else...

Remember that Jesus has ALREADY rescued you. All those times you failed to fight temptation? Jesus has forgiven you. He took your sins away on the cross. You are ALREADY forgiven. You are ALREADY God's child. And if you see how good God is... you'll want to move toward him. It'll give you strength to fight that temptation that tries to get you away from him!

"Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us."

Not so easy to do. Sin demands payment. Whenever someone sins, SOMEONE has to pay the price.

And Jesus has paid the price for you. As he died on the cross, he cried out, "It is finished!" That phrase in Greek also means, "Paid in full!"

Everything you owed for every sin: Paid.

The Lord's Prayer says, "Give us this day our daily bread."

I'm a fan of bread. There's nothing like a fresh-baked loaf. But why not daily cake? Why not bread for a month? Why would Jesus tell us to pray just for enough bread for just one day?

Join us tomorrow as we dig in! We get started at 10!
