Shoals Praise and Worship Choir (SPWC)

Shoals Praise and Worship Choir (SPWC) We are men, women and children, spanning many diverse denominations, races & cultures, from MS to Hun The rest will fall into place over time.

Just as our repertoire spans all genres of Christian music, SPWC is a diverse group that spans all ages, as well as many denominations and diverse cultures. There’s plenty of room for everyone here – no matter your identity, your origins or your past. We only ask that you love Jesus and have a heart to worship Him. This group has been such a source of joy in the lives of our members over the years

. Many of us liken SPWC to our second family, as evidenced by the love and care we have for one another. It’s our prayer that each member feels the same as they get to know us and find their place of service here. We are more than a choir – we are a body of servants with a vision of ministry to the Shoals and beyond. And we have a place for you! In 1999, singers from across the Shoals came together to sing at an area-wide crusade. While practicing in advance of the event, the director, Fred Hendon, felt that there was more in store for this group than just a few services. That sentiment began to spread, and soon SPWC began. Organizing themselves as a non-profit, SPWC adopted a mission and quickly began ministering across north Alabama. Over time, as SPWC grew in number, so did their ministry reach expand and grow. They began booking services at larger venues across Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee, and soon found it necessary to begin a waiting list for membership when their numbers exceeded their staging capacity. Over the years SPWC has recorded several albums, and has shared the stage with many Gospel, Southern Gospel and Contemporary Christian artists. In 2014, celebrating their 15th year of ministry, SPWC hosted multi-platinum Grammy® award winning Christian music artist Sandi Patty at their 1st Annual Homecoming Event. God continues to bless SPWC, and we continue to be amazed and humbled.

”Proud mom moment! Matthew worked this evening and a homeless gentlemen walked in the restaurant with .50 cents and asked if there was anything on the menu he could buy. Matthew asked him what he would order if he could and the man said anything would help his hunger pains. So Matthew rung him up for a hearty meal and then used his own debit card to pay for the mans meal. He handed him the receipt and told him to relax and take a seat.

The story could end there and It would be a happy ending, but apparently a women watched my son during his random act of kindness. Not only did she write the company to let them know about the caring employee they had working for them, she also rewarded my son with a very generous tip!

”So proud to be his mom and I can pat myself on the back knowing that I've played a part in raising this big hearted young man."

Dear Singers,

Come One, Come All to sing in the Christmas Spectacular Choir Musical: "Christmas is Jesus" hosted at Muscle Shoals Baptist Church to be presented on December 4th @ 6:00 PM!!

Eric Kachur, the associate music minister at Muscle Shoals Baptist is inviting those area choir members that have sung in the Mike Speck musical, "Christmas is Jesus" in the past (or those that have the ability to easily read their vocal parts) to join us for ONE SCHEDULED PRACTICE!! That practice is: Tuesday, November 15th at 5:30 PM (also at the Muscle Shoals Baptist Church). That Tuesday Evening is during the church's revival services, so the combined choir will also be singing two songs (from the musical) during the revival worship service that Tuesday evening. Those attending practice will have pizza in the fellowship hall before the worship service begins.

Resources available to the participants will be a listening CD or a "voice predominate" part CD, a book borrowed from a sister church (that must music be returned OR paid for if you don't return it).

Clothes will be black dresses for women, and black slacks with a white shirt with a red tie for men (a red tie can be borrowed (and returned) the day of the musical).

Sound checks for the combined choir on December 4th will be at 4:45 PM. Need further information about the musical, church or the combined choir? Email Eric Kachur at: [email protected] or leave a text message or voicemail for him at: (256) 712-2324

Please leave the following information: Name, best contact number, voice part, height (yes, it is needed information), and if you will be needing a CD and/or a book.

Thanks in advance for this wonderful opportunity to glorify the Lord through this Christmas musical.

Cordially in Christ's Service
