Just as our repertoire spans all genres of Christian music, SPWC is a diverse group that spans all ages, as well as many denominations and diverse cultures. There’s plenty of room for everyone here – no matter your identity, your origins or your past. We only ask that you love Jesus and have a heart to worship Him. This group has been such a source of joy in the lives of our members over the years
. Many of us liken SPWC to our second family, as evidenced by the love and care we have for one another. It’s our prayer that each member feels the same as they get to know us and find their place of service here. We are more than a choir – we are a body of servants with a vision of ministry to the Shoals and beyond. And we have a place for you! In 1999, singers from across the Shoals came together to sing at an area-wide crusade. While practicing in advance of the event, the director, Fred Hendon, felt that there was more in store for this group than just a few services. That sentiment began to spread, and soon SPWC began. Organizing themselves as a non-profit, SPWC adopted a mission and quickly began ministering across north Alabama. Over time, as SPWC grew in number, so did their ministry reach expand and grow. They began booking services at larger venues across Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee, and soon found it necessary to begin a waiting list for membership when their numbers exceeded their staging capacity. Over the years SPWC has recorded several albums, and has shared the stage with many Gospel, Southern Gospel and Contemporary Christian artists. In 2014, celebrating their 15th year of ministry, SPWC hosted multi-platinum Grammy® award winning Christian music artist Sandi Patty at their 1st Annual Homecoming Event. God continues to bless SPWC, and we continue to be amazed and humbled.
