This Sunday, May 17, come by the atrium at First Baptist Church Florence at 8:30 AM as we honor and encourage our graduating seniors.

We’ll have donuts, fruit, coffee, juice… and yes, more donuts.

Take a few moments to:
• Highlight a favorite Bible verse in their Bible
• Congratulate them on this huge milestone
• Encourage them as they begin this next chapter

These students are stepping into an exciting season of life, and we would love for our church family to surround them with prayer, love, and support.

For more than 30 years, Kevin Johnson has faithfully served and loved the people of First Baptist Church Florence and the Shoals area.

You may know him as Brother Kevin.
You may know him as KJ.
You may know him as Pastor Kevin.
You may know him as Coach KJ.
You may know him as “The Voice of the Florence Falcons.”
You may know him as a brother, an uncle, a friend… or maybe even “that Simon Says guy.”

No matter what name you know him by, one thing is certain — Kevin has impacted countless lives through his friendship, leadership, encouragement, laughter, and faithful service to the Lord and His church.

Join us as we celebrate and honor Pastor Kevin on his final Sunday with us at First Baptist Church Florence with a Drop-In Reception on Sunday evening, May 17, from 5:00–7:00 PM at the 218 on Wood building (the former Florence Public Library location).

Stop by to share a memory, offer encouragement, and let Kevin know how much he has meant to you and your family over the years.

We will also have a basket available for cards, gift cards, and notes of encouragement.

Come help us celebrate a man who has worn many hats, answered many calls, and faithfully served our church family for decades.

It’s with grateful hearts—and a mix of emotions—that we want to share an important update with our church family.

After 33 years of faithful service, our pastor, Kevin Johnson, has shared that he will be stepping down offering his resignation this morning, Sunday May 3rd. Making his final Sunday with us tentatively being May 17.

This hasn’t been an easy decision. Bro. Kevin shared that it has come through much prayer and a deep sense that God is leading him into a new season of ministry—and that our church is ready for the next chapter God has prepared.

As he said so beautifully, “My future is uncertain, but our God is always certain.”

For more than three decades, Bro. Kevin has loved, led, and faithfully shepherded this church and our community. His impact here is lasting, and we are incredibly thankful for the way he has poured his life into this place.

We invite you to join us in praying for Bro. Kevin during this transition, and for our church as we seek God’s direction for the days ahead.
