Our Missions Statement:
Sharing the Savior. Our Beliefs:
The Alliance is an evangelical Protestant denomination known for our distinctive history, our passion for world missions, and our international composition. For more than 120 years, the heart of The Alliance has been the Fourfold Gos
pel, which focuses on Jesus as Savior, Sanctifier, Healer and Coming King. We hold a common desire to see every man, woman, and child experience a personal relationship with God in the fullness of Jesus Christ. Lost people matter to God. He wants them found. Luke 19:10
Prayer is the primary work of the people of God. Philippians 4:6-7
Everything we have belongs to God. We are only stewards. 1 Chronicles 29:14
Knowing and obeying God’s Word is fundamental to all true success. Joshua 1:8
Completing the Great Commission requires mobilizing every fully devoted disciple. Matthew 28:19
Without the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, we can accomplish nothing. 1 Corinthians 2:4-5
Achieving God’s purposes involves taking faith-filled risks; this always involves change. Hebrews 11:6
Our Church:
Florence Alliance Church was founded in 1988 with a home fellowship of only eight people. Growing steadily, we first rented facilities, and then acquired property on Cayton Road. 1994 saw the completion of our first building, and the following year we welcomed our current pastor, Bill Shutt. The most recent building addition brought our facility to the point where we offer a 200-seat sanctuary, classrooms, a fellowship hall with kitchen facilities, and playground. More importantly, there's always something going on in our congregation – opportunities to worship, learn, grow and fellowship. Our Denomination:
The Christian and Missionary Alliance (C&MA), began in 1884 as a missionary society under the inspiration and leadership of Dr. A. Simpson, who left the pastorate of a large Presbyterian church in New York City to concentrate on outreach. Dr. Simpson's vision and zeal to reach the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ drew coworkers from many different Protestant denominations, and a powerful missions movement began. In 1974, after nearly a century of effort and church planting worldwide, the Alliance officially became a denomination. A detailed denominational history is available at on the Alliance website http://www.cmalliance.org/about/history/. Today the C&MA is a very international group, with over 13,600 churches in 81 countries! Alliance partners include four colleges and seminaries, camping and youth ministries, retirement communities, and our development branch. Our Pastor:
Pastor Bill Shutt has been the senior pastor at Florence Alliance Church since June, 1995. He is a graduate of Asbury College (B.A.) and Asbury Theological Seminary (M.Div.). Additionally, he served as pastor of Gravel Switch United Methodist Church while in seminary. Bill enjoys camping with his family, singing in a Barbershop chorus, and helping to coach his kid's sports teams. He and his wife, Rose, were married in 1986. They have three children. His greatest passion is to help people move closer to Jesus in their spiritual journey.
