You are invited to worship at historic St. John’s Episcopal Church (300 N. Dickson St., Tuscumbia) at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 1, when the annual All Saints’ memorial service will be held. The service of Evening Prayer will be conducted from the 1928 Book of Common Prayer by the Rev. Danielle Thompson, Rector of Grace Episcopal Church. All are welcome.
The church was established in 1839, when the congregation met in homes and in the Methodist Meeting House. The building was erected in 1852. In 1955 it was closed for regular service. St. John’s remains unchanged and contains its original memorial stained-glass windows, pews, and pump organ. It is Alabama’s earliest “Carpenter’s Gothic” church. The offering will be dedicated to preserving the historic church building.
