This Sunday, June 1st, you can worship with us in person at 11:00 a.m. at 209 Broad Street, Florence NJ or right here on Facebook.

As Eastertide draws to a close, we invite you to join us this Sunday as we reflect on a powerful moment in the life of Jesus and His followers—His Ascension into heaven, as told in Acts 1:1–11.

The Ascension might seem like an ending, but it’s really a new beginning. In this moment, Jesus is not leaving us behind—He is lifting us up in hope, empowering His church with purpose, and preparing us for the gift of the Spirit. It’s a turning point in the story of resurrection, reminding us that even in times of transition, God is always doing a new thing.

Come be encouraged by the hope that lifts us beyond loss, beyond fear, and into the calling Christ gives His people. Whether you're worshiping with us in person or online, we look forward to gathering with you as we celebrate the risen and reigning Lord who still sends us out to be His witnesses in the world.

There will be the opportunity to celebrate Communion in our online worship. If you would like to participate, please take a few moments to prepare your worship space with simple elements to represent the body and blood of Jesus—a piece of bread, a cracker, or something similar for the body, and a small cup of juice, tea, or water for the blood.

You can financially support our ministry by mailing a check to the church at 209 Broad Street, Florence NJ 08518.

📖 Today’s Reading: 1 Kings 14–16

These chapters trace the rapid spiritual decline of both the northern and southern kingdoms. As Jeroboam and Rehoboam lead their people into idolatry and sin, we see the heartbreaking consequences unfold: judgment, instability, and repeated cycles of unfaithfulness. New kings rise and fall—many of them described with the chilling phrase, “He did evil in the eyes of the Lord.” Yet even in the midst of this dark period, God continues to send prophets, speak truth, and call His people back.

As you read, reflect on these questions:

⚖️ What does the downfall of Jeroboam and Rehoboam reveal about the long-term impact of spiritual compromise and leadership without repentance?

🔁 Why do you think so many kings followed the same destructive path, and how can we break generational or cultural patterns that dishonor God?

💡 Even in these dark chapters, where do you see God’s grace and patient call to return to Him? How might He be calling you to turn back or remain faithful today?

Let’s learn from the past so we can walk more faithfully in the present. Share your reflections below! 💬⬇️

📖 Today’s Reading: 1 Kings 9–11

These chapters capture the high point—and the heartbreaking decline—of Solomon’s reign. God appears to Solomon again in chapter 9, affirming His promises but also warning of the dangers of disobedience. Chapter 10 showcases Solomon’s fame, wisdom, and wealth, as even the Queen of Sheba comes to witness his greatness. But in chapter 11, we see the tragic turn: Solomon’s heart is drawn away by foreign wives and false gods, leading to compromise and the beginning of Israel’s spiritual decline.

As you read, reflect on these questions:

⚠️ What does God’s second appearance to Solomon teach us about the connection between blessing, obedience, and lasting legacy?

👑 How do the riches and recognition described in chapter 10 challenge your perspective on success, influence, and what truly matters?

💔 What warning can we take from Solomon’s fall in chapter 11 about the slow drift of the heart and the importance of staying faithful to God over time?

This part of the story reminds us how easy it is to start well—and how vital it is to finish faithfully. What stood out to you in today’s reading? 💬⬇️

This Sunday, May 25th, you can worship with us in person at 11:00 a.m. at 209 Broad Street, Florence NJ or right here on Facebook.

This Sunday, we gather around a promise that feels both timely and timeless: Jesus' parting gift to his disciples—and to us—is peace. Not the kind of peace the world offers, fleeting and fragile, but a peace that holds firm even in uncertainty.

Our worship will center on two powerful scriptures:
🔹 John 14:23–29, where Jesus offers peace as his final gift before the cross, and
🔹 Philippians 4:8–9, a call to ground our minds and lives in all that is good, true, and worthy of praise.

Our sermon, "The Gift of Peace: Anchored in the Invisible," will explore how we live into that peace—not by avoiding the chaos of the world, but by being rooted in the invisible presence of Christ and the ongoing work of the Spirit. This peace doesn’t promise escape, but endurance. It doesn’t always change our circumstances—but it changes us within them.

Whether you're longing for calm in a restless season or simply needing to be reminded that you are not alone, we hope you’ll join us. Come as you are—and bring your questions, your hopes, and your need for peace.

You can financially support our ministry by mailing a check to the church at 209 Broad Street, Florence NJ 08518.

📖 Today’s Reading: 1 Kings 3–5

In these chapters, we begin to see Solomon’s reign take shape. Chapter 3 contains one of the most well-known moments in his life: when God offers Solomon anything he desires, and Solomon chooses wisdom. His wise and discerning heart is quickly put to the test in the famous case of the two mothers. As Solomon’s reputation grows, so does the peace and prosperity of the kingdom. Under his leadership, Israel enters a season of blessing and preparation for building the temple.

As you read, consider these questions:

🙏 When God offered Solomon anything, he chose wisdom. What would you ask God for—and how does that reflect your heart and priorities?

⚖️ What stands out to you about Solomon’s decision-making in the story of the two women? How do you seek God’s wisdom in everyday situations?

🏗 How does Solomon’s preparation to build the temple (chapter 5) reflect a heart focused on honoring God with excellence and purpose?

📖 Today’s Reading: 1 Kings 1–2

The opening chapters of 1 Kings mark the end of David’s reign and the beginning of Solomon’s. As David nears death, questions of leadership and succession rise to the surface. We see political maneuvering, moments of wisdom, and the handing down of a powerful legacy. David’s final words to Solomon are full of both fatherly advice and kingdom responsibility. Solomon’s early steps as king are decisive—and reveal the weight of leadership and the importance of walking in God’s ways.

As you read, reflect on these questions:

👑 What do David’s final instructions to Solomon reveal about the kind of foundation needed for lasting, godly leadership?

⚖️ How does Solomon’s early handling of threats and loyalties in chapter 2 highlight the balance between justice, mercy, and wisdom?

🛤 How can we learn from David’s and Solomon’s transitions to live with purpose, finish well, and prepare others to follow God's path?

📖 Today’s Reading: 2 Samuel 22–24

As we come to the close of 2 Samuel, these final chapters reflect on David’s life, legacy, and relationship with God. Chapter 22 is a beautiful psalm of praise, where David recounts God’s faithfulness through every trial. Chapter 23 highlights David’s last words and honors the mighty men who stood with him. In chapter 24, David’s story ends with both failure and grace—his sinful census brings judgment, but also leads to repentance and a powerful act of worship.

As you read, consider these questions:

🎶 What can David’s song in chapter 22 teach you about remembering and praising God’s faithfulness in your own life story?

🗡 How do the stories of David’s mighty men challenge and inspire you to live with courage, loyalty, and faith in action?

📖 Today’s Reading: 2 Samuel 17–18

The story of David and Absalom reaches its dramatic and heartbreaking climax in these chapters. As Absalom’s rebellion gains momentum, God’s providence is quietly at work—thwarting the counsel of Ahithophel and preserving David through loyal friends and strategic wisdom. In chapter 18, the battle finally comes, and David’s forces are victorious—but the cost is devastating. Absalom is killed, and David’s grief is raw and overwhelming.

As you read, take time to reflect on these questions:

🧠 How does the contrast between Ahithophel’s and Hushai’s advice highlight the role of godly wisdom and God’s unseen hand in times of crisis?

⚔️ What do David’s instructions to deal gently with Absalom (18:5) reveal about the tension between justice, mercy, and a father’s love?

💔 How does David’s grief over Absalom challenge you to think about forgiveness, reconciliation, and the pain of unresolved relationships?

Feel free to share your reflections or questions below—this is a powerful and emotional part of David’s story.

📖 Today’s Reading: 2 Samuel 14–16

In these chapters, the fallout of Absalom’s revenge on Amnon gives way to a full-blown crisis: Absalom’s conspiracy and usurpation. As David wrestles with family betrayal, civil unrest, and the pain of a divided kingdom, we’re reminded that broken relationships and unchecked ambition can bring even godliest leaders to their knees. Yet amid the sorrow, we also see glimmers of loyalty, prophetic wisdom, and David’s enduring reliance on the Lord.

As you read, consider these questions:

🪞 How do the actions of the wise woman of Tekoa (14:1–20) and her parable challenge the way you perceive conflict resolution and speaking truth in love?

💔 What does Absalom’s rise—and the people’s willingness to follow him—teach us about the allure of charisma over character in leadership?

🙏 In the midst of betrayal and upheaval, how does David’s heart posture toward God (16:11–12) inspire you to trust God’s sovereignty when life feels out of your control?

This Sunday, we invite you to join us for a meaningful time of worship as we continue to celebrate the hope and promise of the resurrection.

As we reflect on Jesus’ commandment to love one another, we’ll explore how resurrection hope isn’t just a promise for the future—it’s a way of life we’re invited to embody here and now. In a world marked by division, we are called to be a people marked by love.

📖 Today’s Reading: 2 Samuel 12–13

In these chapters, we witness David’s triumph turn to tragedy. Chapter 12 confronts David with the consequences of his sin as the prophet Nathan brings God’s correction—but also offers hope through forgiveness and promise. Then in chapter 13, the seeds of family discord bear bitter fruit in the story of Amnon and Tamar, reminding us how hidden sin can destroy relationships and kingdoms alike.

As you read, ponder these questions:

🪞 How does Nathan’s parable in chapter 12 open a mirror to your own life—inviting you to confess, repent, and receive God’s forgiveness?

💔 What do Amnon and Tamar’s story in chapter 13 teach us about the devastating impact of unchecked desire and abuse of power?

🌱 In the aftermath of David’s sin and his family’s brokenness, where do you see God offering paths to healing and restoration—even amid the consequences?
