A Call to Worship: There Is No One Like Our God

Scripture: Psalm 86:8–10 (NIV)

This past Sunday, we were reminded of a beautiful truth: there is no one like our God. No one can compare to His power, His goodness, or His faithfulness. He alone is God, and He alone is worthy of all our worship.

Psalm 86 reminds us that God is not just powerful—He is worthy of our hearts, our praise, and our surrender. Every nation, every generation, and every person was created by Him and for His glory. His mighty works remind us that He is still in control, even when life feels uncertain.

When we gather to worship, we aren't simply singing songs or going through the motions. We are responding to the greatness of the One who created us, loves us, and continues to work in our lives.

Let this be our reminder today: Don't allow the worries of this world to become bigger than your view of God. Whatever you are facing, He is still God, He is still on the throne, and He is still worthy of your praise!

Prayer: Father, thank You for reminding us that there is no one like You. Help us to worship You with grateful hearts, trust Your power in every circumstance, and give You the glory You deserve. May our lives reflect Your goodness and point others toward You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Reflection: Am I giving God the worship and surrender He deserves, not just on Sunday, but every day of my life?

“Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior.” Habakkuk 3:18

What do you do when you've prayed, you've believed, you've waited, and nothing seems to have changed? In Habakkuk 3, we find a prophet who is facing an uncertain future. His circumstances are troubling, and the answers he longs for have not yet come. Yet something remarkable happens. Habakkuk begins with a request: “Lord, do it again!” He remembers the mighty works of God. He remembers His power, His deliverance, and His faithfulness. As he reflects on what God has done, he is reminded of who God is. His circumstances haven't changed, but his perspective has. By the end of the chapter, Habakkuk makes a powerful declaration: “Yet I will rejoice in the Lord!” He moves from a prayer for God to move to a praise that cannot be moved. What a reminder for us today! Sometimes we become so focused on what we are waiting for God to do that we forget what He has already done. We forget the prayers He has answered, the doors He has opened, the battles He has brought us through, and the grace He has poured over our lives. Most importantly, we forget that the greatest demonstration of God's faithfulness has already been revealed through Jesus Christ. The cross reminds us that even when we cannot understand what God is doing, we can trust who He is. Church, even if God doesn't change what's happening around us, we must refuse to let what's happening around us change our worship of Him! Our praise cannot depend on perfect circumstances. Our worship must be anchored in the unchanging character of God. So today, whatever you're facing, remember: Even if the answer doesn't come today, "yet I will rejoice." Even if the circumstances don't change tomorrow, "yet I will rejoice." Even if I don't understand what God is doing, "yet I will rejoice." Not because everything in life is good, but because the God who gave His life for us is good!

Lord, remind us of Your faithfulness. When our circumstances overwhelm us, help us remember who You are. Renew our hearts, strengthen our faith, and teach us to worship You even in the waiting. We ask You to move again, but until You do, may our hearts remain steadfast in praise. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Forgiveness is easy to believe in until we actually have someone to forgive.

In Chapter 7 of Mere Christianity, C. S. Lewis confronts one of the most difficult commands Jesus gives us: love your neighbor as yourself. That command does not disappear when our neighbor hurts us, disappoints us, betrays us, or becomes our enemy.

Forgiveness does not mean pretending the hurt did not happen. It does not mean calling wrong right. It does not mean that trust is automatically restored or that there are no consequences.

Forgiveness means refusing to let what someone did to me determine what grows inside of me.

Jesus calls us to something deeper than simply being nice to people who are nice to us. He calls us to love people we may not even like. That kind of love is not based on emotion. It is a decision to desire redemption rather than revenge.

I can hate what someone did without allowing hatred for that person to take root in my heart.

That is difficult. Especially when the wound came from someone close to us. Especially when there has been no apology. Especially when they do not seem sorry. Yet the gospel reminds me that I live every day because of forgiveness I could never earn.

Ephesians 4:32 says, “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”

The measure of my forgiveness cannot simply be how deserving I believe another person is. If that were the standard, I would have to ask how deserving I was of the grace God gave me.

Forgiveness is not saying, “What you did was okay.” Forgiveness is saying, “What you did will not have the final word in my heart.”

Today I am asking God to show me where I am holding on to an offense that He is asking me to release. Who am I still making pay for something Jesus is asking me to forgive?

Lord, teach me to extend the same grace that I am so grateful to receive.
