Sunset Hills and River Rest Cemeteries

Sunset Hills and River Rest Cemeteries Bordered by the banks of the Flint River, our resplendent acres and bronze statuary welcome families celebrating their loved ones.

Since 1926, we’ve provided Genesee County with traditional funerals, mausoleum spaces, cremations, and pre-need planning. Sunset Hills and River Rest Cemeteries were established in 1926 as a final resting place for residents of the Flint area. It was the dream of the trustees that these grounds would be a place of beauty forever where families of the departed would always find solitude and peace.

To assure the future of this vision the trustees elected to make Sunset Hills a permanent non-profit organization. We have provided for the perpetual care of our beautiful grounds through a special fund set aside solely for this purpose. Rolling hills enhance the beautiful landscape of the cemetery and provide a backdrop for a variety of trees planted throughout the grounds. Thousands of white daffodils surround the entrances in early spring. The perennial gardens showcase a variety of plants and grasses. Hundreds of flats of colorful flowers are planted throughout the cemetery each year providing a “summer of color” well into the fall. Today, tomorrow, and decades from now, you can have peace of mind in knowing we will provide respect and care for your loved one. Chapel of the Angels Mausoleum

On D-Day, United States soldiers and our allies landed on the beaches of France with a mission to turn the tide of World War II.
