I purposely waited until the day was over to acknowledge this man. He has been in my life ALL my life and words cannot begin to express how much I love, appreciate, and RESPECT him. When he was able, he was always supportive of me and my family, when we needed him he was always there. I’ll never forget how he showed up to support me in court on his anniversary instead of spending time with his beautiful wife. Who does that? He was there for me when I needed words of encouragement when I lost my mother and stopped going to school, he figuratively knocked me upside my head and told me to get that high school diploma, so in a way I owe my Masters degree to him.
The Bible says a pastor should be a faithful steward, humble, gentle, hospitable, peaceful, sober, holy, spiritually mature, respectable... and you have showed ME to be all of this.

I can go on and on about Pastor Emeritus Powell. Even though you have retired, you will always be my pastor.
