Gulu Methodist Partnership Incorporated (GMPI) is to assist the Gulu, Uganda, United Methodist Church District pastors and churches in their efforts to make Christian disciples and minister to the needs of their churches and communities under the guidance of the East African Conference and Gulu District leaders.

GMPI students just finished a three week intensive at Mukuno Theological Bible college. Lessons are held under mango trees and tents to take advantage of the cool breeze. And now the students have returned to their homes and churches with assignments to complete until the next intensive. We thank God for the willing hearts of these pastors in training, who make the sacrifice of their time and the difficult travel to learn more about being a disciple of Jesus and leadings others to the same end.

When our students are finishing up the school year, the GMPI sponsored students are just getting started! They missed the first session of classes because of the national elections but classes have begun. Check out this bunch of beautiful people who are studying at Mukuno Bible College. During their three week intensive, they are learning how to preach and teach and do ministry the Wesley way with a focus on discipleship. Pray for their success as students and ministers of the transforming love of Jesus!

Because of the relationship between GMPI and the Methodist Churches in Gulu, a local musician from Kentucky donated funds to help one of the churches to replace a broken keyboard. Thank God for the unique ways we can support our brothers and sisters as they worship the Lord!

GMPI invests in the education of its leaders by sending them to Mukuno Bible College. Classes in English teach on the bible, preaching, church administration and all things John Wesley. That investment is beginning to see big dividends as trained leaders are facilitating trainings for local leaders who don't speak English but are now getting some of the same quality of education. Pictured is Pastor Peter, who has completed all his coursework, and has been endorsed by Mukuno as an effective teacher. He says: "I would like to appreciate GMPI for supporting me in school. I am now seeing the product because I am now training the leaders in Gulu. Keep praying for me so that God can do his work through me. Keep praying for me because Gulu now becoming to big. Peace and blessing!"
Please take a moment and pray for Pastor Peter and his desire to be an effective communicator to the people of the Gulu District's Methodist churches.

Maundy Thursday in GULU. Following the example of Jesus by washing the feet of the disciples. John 13: 1-20. "I tell you for certain that servants are not greater than their master and messengers are not greater than the one who sent them.you know these things, and God will bless you if you do them."

One big challenge for the people of Gulu is the dust which is stirred up during the dry season. Most of the churches use handwoven straw mats on the floor to control this problem, but Pastor Peter and his church raised the necessary funds LOCALLY to seal up their floor with concrete. This is a huge win for them and for all of us who have been supporting the work in Gulu. Gaining this level of independence and self-determination is building up the confidence of the community, and demonstrates that with God's help, all things are possible!

From the GMPI year end report:
The Water of Life ministry continues to be an important part of outreach in Gulu, reflecting John Wesley’s holistic approach. It works like this: local communities who have broken wells can apply for an evaluation. Once the team has determined the supplies and cost for repairs, the local community fund raises 20%. With those funds and the balance from GMPI, the repair team returns to fix what’s broken. In many cases, like the video here, local men and sometimes women, join the Water of Life staff to learn about how to repair and maintain the well. In 2025, there were 54 wells repaired which represents almost 20,000 people who gained access to clean water. What a beautiful way to demonstrate the living water of Jesus Christ to the region!

2026 GMPI LEADERSHIP IN UGANDA

The leadership of the Gulu District continues to rest in the capable hands of Solomon Obita and David Ntogoyh-
na. Solomon is the acting DS. He is the longest serving pastor in the region. His role is to provide leadership and support to the other pastors. Currently, he serves 25 churches and fellowships.
His wife, Millie, who was ordained a deacon in the church this year, is his faithful companion in ministry. David, who lives in the South of Uganda and travels to Gulu at least once a month,
continues to mentor Solomon and the other pastors, and serves as the national director of GMPI, helping with accountability and guidance. (Pictured, David in the purpose stole, Solomon in the green stole)
