When was the last time you seriously thought about your own death?

In a culture obsessed with youth, distraction, and digital escapism, Psalm 39 confronts us with the truth: remembering our mortality is the key to living well NOW. King David knew that when we grasp how brief our lives truly are, just a few handbreadths, we gain wisdom to fight sin, order our loves rightly, and find genuine hope in the Lord.

This isn't pessimism, but profound Christian optimism found in Jesus! Because Jesus rose from the grave, our labor is no longer in vain. Death has been defeated. And when we number our days with eternity in view, we discover the art of dying in Christ, which is really the art of living fully for Him.

"And now, O Lord, for what do I wait? My hope is in you." (Psalm 39:7)

Don't waste your life. This breath we call life is short, but what Christ has done for us lasts forever.

What does the word "repent" stir in your heart? Is it an uncomfortable, old-fashioned word, or the pathway to freedom and joy?

This Sunday, we explored Psalm 38 and discovered that repentance isn't about earning God's favor through penance. It's about running TO Jesus, not away from Him. True repentance is both the entrance into the Christian life AND the daily rhythm of walking with Christ. It's confessing specific sins, experiencing godly sorrow, and resting in the finished work of the cross.

God's discipline isn't punishment. Jesus already took that. It's the loving correction of a Father who refuses to let us stay stuck in sin. When we confess our iniquity and say "I am sorry for my sin," we're not losing our salvation but restoring our fellowship with the God who already forgives us in Christ.

Repentance kills the joy thief of sin and restores the joy of our salvation. What freedom!

When anxiety grips your heart and evil seems to prevail, where do you turn for relief? Psalm 37 gives us the answer: Fret not.

King David shows us that a gospel-filled heart doesn't fixate on evildoers or circumstances. Instead, we trust in the Lord, delight in Him, commit our ways to Him, be still, and wait patiently. These aren't suggestions, they're commands for how to feel and where to focus.

Jesus Himself quoted this Psalm: "Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth" (Matthew 5:5). The promised land isn't just ancient Israel, but the entire renewed creation where we'll dwell with Christ forever. Every hardship you face today is prologue to the greatest story ever told.

Stop doom-scrolling through your fears. Look up to Jesus, risen and reigning. Trust what He says more than what your eyes see or your heart feels. The righteous shall inherit the land and dwell upon it forever.

What's the condition of your heart?

Psalm 36 presents the greatest contrast: the dark heart of sin versus the boundless love of God.

Apart from Christ, we flatter ourselves, suppress truth, and live without fear of God. But God's steadfast love extends to the heavens. His faithfulness reaches the clouds. His righteousness stands like unmovable mountains. His love fills the universe.

In Christ, we find refuge under His wings. We feast at His table. We drink from the river of His delights. Jesus offers living water that becomes a spring welling up to eternal life. This isn't a promise that life is easy, but that you are safe in Christ, no matter what comes against you.

Today is the day of salvation. The invitation is simple: "If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink" (John 7:37).

Will you come?
