The most widely celebrated distinctly Unitarian Universalist ritual — of Czech origins — is the annual flower ceremony (sometimes erroneously called a "flower communion'). It is celebrated on different dates by different congregations. Come — bring a flower, learn, and participate in this beautiful service. With Rev. Patrick McLaughlin preaching, Worship Associate Amanda McBroom, and music under the direction of Michael Minear with accompaniment by Eli Diemert.

Unitarian Universalism has a long history of concern about our systems of policing, justice, and punishment. These concerns are complex and deep — what should justice look like? Come learn about that history and our commitments, and about the work that is being done right now among congregations, leading towards a new, official statement on these issues (in about a year). We'll also be welcoming new members! With Rev. Patrick McLaughlin preaching, Worship Associate Nancy Paxton, and music by the Beacon Choir under the direction of Michael Minear with accompaniment by Eli Diemert.

SPECIAL NOTE: The service is at 10 a.m. There is NO second service this Sunday. This truncated service will be followed by a brief coffee break, the Annual Congregational Meeting (10:45 a.m.), and a Potluck Picnic (12 noon).

Democracy is a fundamental value and commitment of Unitarian Universalists. We Americans tend to think of democracy as something we are, not something we do. That attitude may be one of the fundamental failures of the American republic. How do we do democracy better? With Rev. More Than Wins and Losses: What sports can teach us about character, connection, and living in right relationship.
Sports can reveal some of the best, and most challenging, parts of being human: teamwork and rivalry, perseverance and disappointment, individual glory and shared purpose. Through story and song, this service explores sportsmanship, community, joy, and UU values. Led by UU musician, recent Northern Arizona University graduate, and lifelong San Diego Padres fan Marshall Voit.
