Homelessness is a society crisis. People need people and with billions of us in the world; why is it that so many of us are alone?
Everyone faces challenges in life. Some of us have a wider network of people we could lean on if things ever went south. The majority of us don't.
A vast understanding of homelessness is misconstrued. These people are not losers for lack of a better word used by the uneducated. They are not horrible people. They are not worthless. They are not scum. Most homelessness is an outcome of human error. Abuse, mental neglect, trauma, financial down fall, housing shortage, disabilities and lack of human compassion. Sometimes it is a choice. The point is we don't know everybodies story.
I've lived in a tent, although I didn't feel homeless, I didn't have enough money for rent! My Mom was homeless four times throughout her life. Today she has a beautiful home, a huge heart and a yearnings to give back to those in need. I'd love to hear others stories if your willing to share!
My hope is for humanity to come together in love, stop casting judgment and start spreading cheer. A smile goes a long way! A bottle of water can brighten a day! If we can all open our hearts even just a little bit we can change the world in a big way!
The reality is that poverty in Flagstaff far surpasses the national average. The high cost of living in Flagstaff, combined with high unemployment and lack of affordable housing, among other factors, makes it tough for many families to get by. We lost two souls to the freezing temps already this winter. Its cold outside and we're willing to give out some warmth. Your help is greatly appreciated! Send us your donations throughout the year and we'll get them out there.
Beanies, hats, scarfs, jackets, hand warmers...toiletries, snacks and water!
In love and Light
