Please help us welcome our new pastor, Timothy Wyer. He will begin at Fithian on August 1st. Here is his personal statement:

Greetings. My name is Timothy Wyer. I was raised and still live in Georgetown, Il. I am 65 years old, retired, divorced, a father of 3 children, 2 daughters, Heather, 41 and Stephanie, 39 and a son, Ethan, 35. I have 10 grandchildren, 5 grandsons and 5 granddaughters ranging in age from 19 to 13. In addition, my youngest daughter is going through the adoption process of adding 4 more children, 3 boys ages 8, 8 and 6 and a girl age 4. One of the 8 year olds and the 6 year old have birthdays coming in August.

I attend the United Methodist Church in Georgetown. I was baptized and confirmed as a member of the church in 1974. I was raised in the Methodist Church and have a wonderful relationship with others in my church. They have encouraged and strengthened me along my faith journey.

Experiencing God's calling over me has been a long process of Him trying to get my attention. I believe it began before I was even aware of it. But, when I did become aware of His call I was attending an evening church service at the Rantoul UMC. I was prompted to read the scripture a week later. I was not comfortable with reading in front of the congregation. I finally relented after a week long debate with God and got up and read the scripture. I realized afterwards that it wasn't nearly as bad as I feared. Soon after I took the basic lay servant course. That has lead me to the certified lay servant, then the certified lay speaker, then CLM. Now I am praying what's next in this process for God's calling. It has taken me a long time to reach this point, but I truly believe it has been worth it. I feel led to explore it further and see where the next step in God's calling leads me. For me the exciting part is discovering and discerning what is the next step in ministry. It is exciting to help and discover where God is going to lead others in ministry. I have passions for ministering men and families to discover their place in God's plan. Strong men and families I believe are crucial and needed to have a strong church and give hope in a hurting world.

SPECIAL PROGRAM AT FUMC!

On Sunday, July 12th, during the 10:45 a.m. church service, FUMC will host Cathy Reynolds, a Southern, Country, and Inspirational Gospel singer from the Peoria area. We encourage everyone to come out to support Cathy’s ministry. Please bring a friend!

Cathy uncovered her passion for music during her first guitar lesson with her dad. From that point on, she was involved in choir, musicals, song writing and ministry.

Performances include Branson Mo Theatres, Disney World, Army Bases and veterans’ events across the US, Many churches, Festivals, State Fairs, and even the White House.

Cathy is a four-time Southern Gospel Artist of the Year for Independent Gospel Artists in Nashville and Country Gospel Music Association International Lyricist and Central Division Female Vocalist of The Year.

We hope to see you all there to enjoy the music!

We will be collecting a free will offering to give to Cathy.

The church is being unlocked in case anyone needs to shelter in the basement. Please be aware there continues to be a water issue during heavy rains. Also, please make sure to stay away from the windows. Feel free to bring a lawn chair to sit in for your comfort. Praying for everyone's safety during the possible storms.

We celebrated our graduates on June 7th. Congratulations to Alec, Gavin, Mason and Sailer!! 🎓🙏🏼

When a storm hits during Faithful Friends we invite some neighbors in and head to the basement. Then we sing! 🎶🎶
