Faith and tradition were on full display at the Basilica of St. Josaphat during the Feast Day Mass and procession honoring Our Lady of Częstochowa.

Congratulations to Wisconsin’s District Masters for the 2026–2028 term!

We congratulate SK Thomas Eder on his appointment as District Master of the Wisconsin Western District and SK Jack Wrbanich on his reappointment as District Master of the Wisconsin Eastern District. Their terms begin September 1, 2026, and continue through June 30, 2028.

We also extend our sincere appreciation to SK Duane Zaborowski, outgoing Western District Master, for his dedicated leadership and service to the Fourth Degree and the Knights of Columbus throughout Wisconsin.

Please join us in congratulating Tom and Jack, thanking Duane for his service, and offering our prayers and support as Wisconsin’s Fourth Degree begins this next chapter of leadership.

Fifteen years is a long life for an ultrasound machine.

The one at Our Lady of Hope Clinic had reached the end of it. Ultrasound equipment is a serious capital expense, and for a clinic serving patients who have nowhere else to go, "we cannot afford to replace it" means real people are affected.

So the Knights of St. Maria Goretti Knights of Columbus - Council 17889 went and got one.

Working with 4US, they placed a brand-new ultrasound machine in that clinic. A need existed, and Knights helped fill it.

This is what the Strong Right Arm of the Church looks like in practice. Not a slogan. A machine in an exam room, and a patient who gets an answer today instead of being sent away.

Where there's a need, there's a Knight.

Blessed Michael J. McGivney, priest and founder of the Knights of Columbus, pray for us! 🙏

It's summer in Waterbury, Connecticut. August 12, 1852 to be exact, a little baby boy is born. The eldest son of Irish immigrants, Michael McGivney left school at thirteen to work in a brass factory making spoons.

At sixteen he began studies for the priesthood in Quebec, then had to leave and come home when his father died. He finished in Baltimore and was ordained in 1877.

What he saw in New Haven was simple and it was everywhere: a father dies, and the family goes under. He took legal guardianship of one boy himself, a thirteen-year-old whose father had died and left a large family with nothing. Then in 1882 he gathered a handful of men in the basement of St. Mary's and built something that would do it for everyone else.

He died of pneumonia eight years later, two days after his thirty-eighth birthday.

Two million of us now. Every council, every fish fry, every check written to a widow, every Tootsie Roll handed across a card table. It started with a young priest who knew exactly what it was to bury a father and count what was left.

Happy birthday, Father McGivney.

When soldiers came over the wall at San Damiano, Clare was too ill to stand. Her sisters carried her to the door, and she held up the Blessed Sacrament. Tradition says the men turned around and went back down.

She did not out-argue them or outlast them. She held up the one thing she trusted.

Eight centuries later, that is still the shape of it. A man does not put the Eucharist at the center of his week because it makes him formidable. He does it because it is the only thing he has that is worth holding up.

"Lord, your word is sweeter than honey, and your mercy runs out after the one who strays. Make me small enough today to be led, and attentive enough to seek out whoever near me feels lost.

Through the quiet example of Saint Clare, teach me to hold fast to what matters and to let the rest go. Amen."
