Encounter exists to further the mission of River Valley Church of Christ by reaching out to the youth of Central Illinois. We believe it is important to share the love of Jesus Christ with young adults, because they will be not only the future leaders of this world, but also of the Church. Approximately 34% (over one third!) of young adults claim they have no religion ("nones"), compared to less t
han 20% of adults over 30. Of those who are religiously unaffiliated, 90% are not actively looking for a religion. This is where the job of the Church comes in, and Encounter, in particular. Encounter exists to reach those who are far from Christ (looking or not looking) and share with them the love that Jesus gives. We meet on Sunday evenings from 6:30-8pm, at River Valley Church of Christ, Fisher, IL. Encounter is led by River Valley Church of Christ Associate Minister Jon Scott. During a normal meeting, we have live music, a message, discussion groups, games, snacks, and fun activities.
