Sometimes we say we want God to lead us, but deep down, we’ve already decided where we want to go. We just want His approval.

But what if hearing God’s voice starts with being willing to follow Him, even when His answer isn’t what we hoped for?

Biblical Truth for a Culture That Desperately Needs It

Did Coca-Cola really reject “Jesus is King” while allowing “Allah is King” and even “Satan is King”?

The viral story is based on something real—but there’s an important distinction Christians need to know before sharing it.

Coca-Cola’s personalization system reportedly rejected “Jesus is King” while allowing other phrases to proceed further in the customization process.

But that does NOT necessarily mean Coca-Cola officially approved those phrases or intentionally decided to discriminate against Christians. Coca-Cola says there was a technical issue with the system.

And I think that distinction matters.

We don’t need to exaggerate a story to defend our faith. We should care about the truth—even when the less-nuanced version would get more clicks.

But regardless of what Coca-Cola’s algorithm accepts or rejects, one truth remains:

Jesus Christ is Lord.

Jesus is King. 👑

Most Christians know Jesus’ final words on the cross.

But have you ever stopped to consider His first recorded words?

At only 12 years old, Jesus stayed behind in the temple. When Mary and Joseph finally found Him, He said:

“Didn’t you know I had to be in my Father’s house?”
— Luke 2:49

One application I take from this passage is that Jesus’ priorities were already clear. Long before the miracles, the crowds, and the cross, His heart was centered on His Father and the mission He came to fulfill.

It’s a challenging reminder for all of us:

These cicadas waited years for this moment.

They couldn’t rush it.
They couldn’t force it.
They emerged exactly when they were designed to.

Sometimes our lives feel the same way.

We pray.
We wait.
We wonder if God has forgotten us.

But maybe He isn’t delaying.

Maybe He’s preparing.

“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.” — Ecclesiastes 3:1

If you’re in a season of waiting, don’t lose heart. God’s timing has never been early, and it’s never been late.

Everything around you has an expiration date.

Your food.
Your car.
Your house.
Even your body.

But your soul?

Jesus asked:

“What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?” (Mark 8:36)

We spend so much time preparing for retirement, vacations, careers, and tomorrow…

How much time do we spend preparing for eternity?

Your body has an expiration date.

Your soul doesn’t.

The wildfire smoke in our skies today reminded me of something much deeper.

Some of the most dangerous things in life are invisible.

The same is true spiritually.

Pride.
Bitterness.
Compromise.
False teaching.

We rarely notice them all at once. They quietly shape our hearts over time.

That’s why Scripture tells us:

“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”
(Proverbs 4:23)

Take a moment today and ask yourself:

What has my soul been breathing lately?

Your rearview mirror is small for a reason.

It’s there to remind you where you’ve been—not to determine where you’re going.
