Praying and reading your Bible are of no benefit if you only do it once a week. Especially if you spend the rest of your week watching television shows, reels, videos, listening music, and reading books that focus on foul language, sexual promiscuity, idolatry, pride, and self-gratification. We must be diligent in daily praying and reading of God's word. We must also be diligent on working the discipline of fasting into the rhythms of our life. You may not fast every week, but we all must take time throughout the year to seek the Lord through fasting.

As we conclude our 31 day challenge, two questions arise from the final verse of the final chapter in Proverbs. What fruit are your hands producing? What do your works say about you?

If we could pick the fruit that comes from your efforts, from your actions, words, and thoughts, what would this fruit look like? Would it reflect Jesus in every way or would it reflect yourself? Would your fruit taste like that which can only come from giving all glory to God or would it taste like pride and arrogance? What praises do your works sing? Do they sing praises to God? Does their praise point to the everlasting Lord of all creation or do the point to you and your accomplishments? If we work for the sake of receiving praise, then we’ve performed work for the wrong reason.

What you say and do will determine the fruit you bear. That is why the application of the wisdom we have gained from these last 31 days is so vital to helping you walk closer to God. Let us be careful to let the wisdom of God pe*****te our hearts and minds so that everything we do will honor and lift up the mighty name of Jesus!

We want to say a quick prayer for you: God, please bless this reader. Please bless them and draw them closer to you through your word. Let their hearts be full of you Jesus, so that everything they say and do will be full of heavenly wisdom and that glorifies and lifts up your name oh Jesus. Soli Deo Gloria. We ask all these things in Jesus mighty name, amen.

What a MIGHTY God we serve! Always such a blessing to encounter the Holy Spirit together as we worship, learn, and pray together!

Sis. Diana brought a wonderful Sunday School lesson that reminded us of the power of prayer and of the great sacrifice Jesus bore for all of our sins which tied so beautifully into Pastor Austin’s sermon.

Sermon Notes:

The Response of God | 2 Chronicles 20:1-4, 17-19

Jehoshaphat needs help from the Lord.

1. God responds when we seek Him. How can God move in a situation if we don’t invite Him in? He won’t force himself into a situation you haven’t invited him to. Our first response should be to seek the Lord.

2. God responds when we fast. Fasting eliminates something we need in order to get closer to God. Sacrificing necessity. When was the last time you truly fasted? Fasting is the mark of a mature Christian. It’s a spiritual discipline. What good is it if we don’t regularly practice the discipline?

3. Did responds when we humble ourselves. They remained humble before the Lord. We are not the main character, Jesus is. How often do we bow down to the Lord?

4. God responds when we worship Him. Don’t worship just to get a response. Do you want a little of God’s presence or the fullness of His glory? Abide in His presence.

God’s word will NEVER fail you. Everything He has ever said or promised has come to pass and will come to pass. You can rely on His word to remain faithful and true forever!

Then, we’re given this promise in the same proverb, “He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him.” First, we’re reminded that God’s word will never fail, then we’re given a word about Him. We are promised that He will protect us ALWAYS. How mighty and awesome is our God that He ensures us His word can be trusted and then gives a promise as His evidence. The Lord God is good and He will protect and be with all who call upon His name forever and ever!
