Is Tithing for today? Is it only for those under the Law of the Mosaic Covenant ?
Today under a New Covenant Jesus is our High Priest. We are not under a command to tithe. True but Jesus our high Priest in this New Covenant of grace based on Faith like Abraham was. In the New Testament in Hebrews 7:17 NKJV “For He testifies: “You are a priest forever According to the order of Melchizedek.”
The Lord Jesus Christ is our Priest after the order of Melchizedek.
Now 430 years before the Law it tells us in Genesis 14:18–20: After returning from a victorious battle to rescue his nephew Lot, Abraham was met by Melchizedek, the King of Salem and a priest of God Most High. Melchizedek blessed Abraham, and in response, Abraham gave him "a tenth of everything"
Hebrews 7:1-7 should led us to understand the giving of a tithe much better.
