Matthew 2:13 – And when (the wise men) were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word; for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.

Joseph, Jesus’ earthly father, was a man of faith.
Think about it! It takes faith to pack your bags and head off to a foreign country with no prospect and no planning, to simply go on the basis that the Lord said so.
Joseph had faith. He obeyed every dream from the Lord. He could have made excuses. He could have argued that to stay put would have been so much easier. But no! Joseph was ever seen leaning on the Lord. Joseph was a man of faith.
Fathers, our faith will speak to our children! We need to raise them in an environment of faith in the Lord.
And as a man of faith, Joseph was faithful in spiritual duty. Joseph set an example for his family. Joseph went to the Temple. He attended the feast celebrations. “Now (Jesus’) parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the Passover“(Lk2:41).
Joseph was regular in going to God’s house. Dads, our kids are watching our faithfulness.
Dads, believers!, when our hope is fixed in Jesus Christ and we are relying on the faithfulness of God, we will not waver!
“And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching“(Hb10:24-25).
Fellowship with God is never selfish. We fellowship with other Christians too!
It is interesting. The emphasis here it not on what we get out of faithfulness in attending church, but rather, what we contribute by our faithfulness. Our faithfulness encourages others. And it provokes us all to love and to good works.
Dads, we need to be men of faith, men who are faithful to our spiritual duties.

John 17:2 – As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.

Jesus is God’s love gift to the whole world! And those who are saved are God the Father’s love gift to His beloved Son.
There are special blessings that belong to those who have been given to God the Son by God the Father, blessings that belong to every true believer in Jesus.
1) The first blessing is knowing God. The lost world does not know God. Only those who trust Jesus Christ through personal saving faith know God.
Jesus said “I have manifested thy name unto the men which though gavest me”(Jn17:6). This means to know God’s person, to share God’s nature.
God’s children do not just know about God. We know God personally through saving faith in Jesus Christ!
2) The second blessing is Jesus’ intercession.
When Jesus was on earth, He prayed for His disciples. Today He is praying for all believers!
We are told in Hebrews 7:25 that Jesus “ever liveth to make intercession for” us.
“Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us“(Ro8:34).
Jesus is praying for us!
3) The third blessing is eternal security. This is our assurance of heaven.
No one will be in heaven who has not first of all been saved by personal faith in Jesus Christ.
As we display growth and character in our daily lives, we prove that we are saved and will one day be in heaven. That is security!
In this era of ‘easy believism’ and shallow evangelism, there are no doubt many people who call themselves ‘Christians’ who have never trusted Jesus Christ for salvation! Paul warned the members of the church at Corinth:
“Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? “(2Co13:5).
We have a know-so salvation. And that produces for all of us eternal security.
Thank you, Lord for our saving relationship with you!!

John 14:13 – And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

Believers have the privilege of praying “in Jesus’ name.” We pray to God the Father on the basis of Jesus’ Person and work - all that Jesus is and all that Jesus has done.
What does it mean to pray “in Jesus’ name”?
[1] To pray in Jesus’ name is to pray in accordance with all that His name stands for - the fact that Jesus is the divine Son of God Who died for our sins.
It means we are to pray prayers consistent with Jesus’ holy and righteous character.
[2] To pray in Jesus’ name is to pray to God the Father for what Jesus would want.
It means praying according to God’s will. When we pray in Jesus’ name, we are saying, “I ask this, Father, because it is what I believe that Jesus would want.”
[3] To pray in Jesus’ name means to seek only what would glorify God the Father.
It means praying that God’s plans and purposes will be accomplished for His ultimate glory.
Jesus was not encouraging His disciples to adopt a new formula but rather to appropriate a new concept in prayer.
There is no limit to the power and the potential that is available to us through prayer in Jesus’ name! Praying in Jesus’ name is the key to successful prayer! Amen!
Now, please do not misunderstand what I have just said.
When Jesus says that we can ask for “any thing,” we must remember that our asking is in His name - meaning, according to Jesus’ character and God’s will!
God will not answer prayers contrary to His nature. God will not answer prayers contrary to His Word. God will not answer prayers contrary to His will.
Prayer is simply calling in the name of Jesus, to a loving Father, who knows and understands and cares and answers. There is great power through prayer.
