Post from Jones re: Sauk River Ladies Retreat:

"We have decided that it would be best to postpone Sauk Ladies Retreat til Sept 17-19. for many reasons.

1. We have damage in the ceiling in the kitchen and scullery ( dish washing area) that will need a bunch of work. If we postpone then we have through June to get it all done.

2. We the planning committee have 2 babies arriving in April. Corinne Patrick, My Daughter is due Apr 2 and Na'omi Keith is due Apr. 14th So life is getting a bit busy.

3.. Covid is still not far enough gone to know for sure if Skagit County will have the phases lifted enough for us to even be capable to have Retreat. I would hope that by September, All who want vaccines will have them. The kids should be back in school. Hopefully we can Breath a sigh of relief by then.

Please keep the Camp in your prayers and if anyone has anyone who could volunteer to help with the repairs we would appreciate it. This will take some time and Money to get the repairs complete.

Sure look forward to the time we can unite... please share"

From the elders, moving to phase 2….
The Safe Start plan has given us requirements which we need to meet. The elders met and developed a tentative plan for phase 2.

Phase 2 allows us to worship in the building with 50 people. To do this the elders agreed to have two worship services.

The intent is to have those who are at greater risk to covid19 in group 1. This would allow them to be the first to worship, limiting their exposure because the building had not been occupied for a week. The two groups would be separated by one hour to allow the building to be sanitized and give group 1 time to leave the building before group 2 arrives. We've tried to keep family groups together and to have approximately 50 in attendance at each service.

The elders thought that group 1 could meet at 11am and group 2 at 1pm.

The following are requirements issued by the state for indoor worship services.
1. You should take your temperature before attending services. If you cannot take it at home we can take it for you at the door using a non contact thermometer. Anyone with a temperature above 100.4 degrees F will not be able to worship.

2. The Lord’s supper will use prepared packets of bread and fruit of the vine. These come with the bread sealed onto the top of the sealed juice. The State does not allow use of the communion trays so they will be spaced apart so you can simply pick one up without touching the tray or the other cups. After the Lord’s supper the cups will be collected in a trash bag.

3. Contributions should be placed in a drop box when entering or exiting the building or mailed to the church at PO Box 99, Ferndale Wa 98248.

4. Face masks are required at all times; inside or outside the building. Please bring your face mask. If you do not have one with you we will give you one to use. The requirements specifically call out singing as a potential contamination source, therefore; they are requiring a face mask during worship while singing.

5. We are not to shake hands or hug but remain 6 feet apart at all times. Therefore, at the end of services we will be asking everyone to exit the building and not gather together in the foyer.

6. Physical distancing requirements of six feet between each other must be maintained during worship services. This requires sitting six feet apart. Members of the same household may be seated together as a single unit. Keeping approximately 2 ½ chairs between one another will maintain six feet. We will also rope off every other row of chairs so we are 6 feet from individuals in front or behind us.

7. We will use the overhead to project the songs and not use the song books. If you need to use the song book please bring your own book and take it home with you. If you need a book please talk with me.

8. Only two people may use the restroom at a time. Individuals waiting to use the restroom must maintain at least 6 feet of distance between each person

9. We will need to enter and exit only through the front doors. Other doors will be kept shut.

10. We normally take attendance at services. If someone is diagnosed with covid 19 we will supply the attendance list to the local health department for contact tracing.

SAUK LADIES RETREAT POSTPONED

"The Sauk Board has made the decisions to postpone the Ladies Retreat till Sept 18-20th 2020. We hope you all will mark your calendar and plan on joining us then. We have always done Ladies retreat in the spring to help cover the finances that come with opening the camp for the new season. With that being said, if you are planning on joining us and can afford to pay now, it sure would help. Also if you are blessed enough to not be in a financial bind right now and can afford to give of your blessings it sure would bless Sauk. The Insurance will be due soon and we will not have the amazing money that comes from our amazing ladies. Please be praying for Sauk."

A letter from the elders:

"The elders met to decide on action required to live within restrictions placed on us by Covid-19 health recommendations.

We will discontinue all meetings at the building until restrictions are changed. This is a very fluid situation and will be updated as needed. Currently the Governor has restricted meetings through this month.

For Sunday worship, we should gather together in our homes and or in small groups of 10 or less. When possible, the head of each house needs to take responsibility to assure his home assembles for worship. If you do not have a family gathering and have not arranged to meet with others, please contact Paul Love so this may be coordinated.

Please remember the examples of worship given to us in God’s word. Let each assembly; pray, sing, take the Lord’s Supper, read from God’s word and contribute as you have purposed. We would like to encourage those leading worship to use Eph 1:3-10 to emphasize our blessings in Christ. Though not together, this may lead us to a common fellowship in thought. If you are not able to purchase supplies for the Lord’s Supper please contact Paul Love.

Your giving is an important part of worship and necessary to support both local and foreign work. Checks may be sent to Portal Way Church of Christ, PO Box 99, Ferndale Wa, 98240 or bill pay is being used by some and is another option.

The elders want to know how this is working and therefore we are asking each one leading worship to send a short note to [email protected] to let us know how many were in attendance and any comments you may have on how your worship service went.

There may be needs within the congregation that arise from the difficulties this situation brings about. We encourage you to reach out to the elders if this be the case so we may consider how they may be addressed.

We will continue to investigate other options through on-line services or other ideas being used within the brotherhood. However, for the immediate future we have decided to meet within homes as discussed.

Lanny, Jack, Joe, Chris and Paul"
