Early Voting begins today in Michigan! Here are your Oakland County locations. Voting for justice and love is an act of faith.

Join us this Sunday as we commemorate the Reformation (wear your red!) and the life of Lutheran pastor, Dietrich Bonhoeffer. Below is from yoursanctuary.nz.

Prayers from the Past - Dietrich Bonhoeffer
Dietrich Bonhoeffer, born in 1906, was a brilliant German theologian and pastor who became a leading figure in the resistance against the N**i regime. He was a co-founder of the Confessing Church, a movement that opposed the N**ification of the Protestant Church in Germany.

Bonhoeffer is famous for his theological concept of "cheap grace" versus "costly grace," arguing that true faith requires a commitment to follow Christ's commands, not just intellectual assent. His best-known book, The Cost of Discipleship, explored this idea.

During World War II, he became a double agent, working with the German military's counter-intelligence, the Abwehr, to secretly aid the resistance. He was involved in a plot to assassinate Adolf Hi**er. His conspiracy was discovered, and he was arrested in 1943. After two years in prison, he was executed by the N**is in April 1945, just a few weeks before the war ended.

From: Letters and Papers from Prison

"In me there is darkness, But with You there is light; I am lonely, but You do not leave me; I am feeble in heart, but with You there is help; I am restless, but with You there is peace. In me there is bitterness, but with You there is patience; I do not understand Your ways, But You know the way for me." "Lord Jesus Christ, You were poor And in distress, a captive and forsaken as I am. You know all man's troubles; You abide with me When all men fail me; You remember and seek me; It is Your will that I should know You And turn to You. Lord, I hear Your call and follow; Help me."
