Hosea 10:12 ESV
[12] Sow for yourselves righteousness; reap steadfast love; break up your fallow ground, for it is the time to seek the Lord, that he may come and rain righteousness upon you.

Sow for yourselves righteousness; reap steadfast love; break up your fallow ground, for it is the time to seek the LORD, that he may come and rain righteousness upon you.

Franklintown Community Church of Amelia Island and the entire American Beach Community mourns the passing of a beloved member of our community, Dr. Eugene K. Emory. He was dedicated and committed to ensuring the preservation of American Beach, as well as, promoting the story of Franklintown and its descendants who were enslaved on the Samuel Harrison Plantation which is now the Omni Hotels & Resorts property. Franklintown was the oldest Gullah/Geechee community on the southend of Amelia Island and preceded the founding of American Beach in 1935. Dr. Emory's creation of the Franklintown Historical Society was a direct reflection of his desire to learn as much about this community as possible and share it with the surrounding community because there were/are no signage or markers on First Coast Highway to ever indicate that the Franklintown Community ever existed once you enter the Hotels & Resorts space on the southend of Amelia Island. He wanted to inform and educate the local community and visitors that Franklintown was a community and that those former enslaved members contributed greatly to the economic base for Fernandina Beach.

Dr. Emory was an Educator at Emory University. He sat on many boards and held many titles in our local community. He was invited to be our guest speaker for our 135th Church Anniversary in 2023 and his contribution for keeping the Franklintown story alive is and was truly commendable and his work, research and his gifts to the Franklintown Community will never be forgotten. May you Rest in Peace, Dr. Emory. Your presence in our lives and our community will surely be missed. πŸ˜ͺ

The Pastor and Members send our heartfelt thoughts and prayers to his family and friends and the entire community. πŸ™πŸ½

Franklintown Community Church of Amelia Island celebrated our Pastor Christopher K. Fowler Pastoral Anniversary on last Sunday. Pastor Fowler and his family have served our congregation and community faithfully for the last nine years and we can only hope and pray that God will continue to allow him to remain with us and minister to our community for as long as the Lord allows him to. We also want to thank Elder Toby Johnson and his family for an amazing message. We want to also congratulate our youth, Jasmine. She was baptized on last Sunday at the beach. We pray that God will direct her steps on her journey with the Lord. Thanks to our American Beach Community for their continued support and love for our Pastor and our guests and visitors who came out to support our Pastor! We love you and there's nothing you can do about it! πŸ™ŒπŸΎπŸ™ŒπŸΎπŸ™ŒπŸΎ
