Ever caught yourself knowing exactly what's right but still choosing differently? Like seeing the speed limit sign but convincing yourself the rules don't quite apply to you?

This week we dove into James 1:19-27, where Jesus' own brother challenges us with a powerful truth: following Jesus isn't just about hearing the Word—it's about doing it. James calls us to be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger. But here's the real challenge: he says we're deceiving ourselves when we hear God's truth but don't let it shape how we actually live.

The gospel isn't about rule-keeping or control. It's about freedom. It transforms how we listen, how we live, and how we love—especially toward the vulnerable and marginalized. The implanted Word isn't meant to condemn us but to set us free from the chains we're still carrying.

What would change in your life if you moved from just knowing what's right to actually doing it? Bring those honest struggles to Jesus. He's ready to meet you there.

When your back is against the wall, what does pressure reveal about your faith?

In our new series through James, we're discovering that God is at work in the hard parts of your story. James, the brother of Jesus who once doubted Him, teaches us three powerful truths: pressure reveals what we truly trust, it exposes our disordered desires, and it reminds us that God is still good.

Here's the truth that changes everything: trials don't create your faith—they reveal it. And every good gift comes from the Father of lights "with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change" (James 1:17). God won't switch up on you. He's not the source of what's destroying you; He's the source of what's good.

Jesus said it clearly: "The thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy. I have come that you may have life and have it abundantly" (John 10:10). The good shepherd laid down His life for you.
