Good Friday Service
On Good Friday, we will gather for a service shaped by Scripture, historic Christian prayer, and the traditions practiced by the early church.
The service will follow a historic Good Friday pattern similar to the Tenebrae tradition, consisting of Scripture readings that trace the passion of Christ, prayers drawn from historic Christian liturgy, songs centered on the cross, the Lord’s Supper, and periods of silence for reflection. The service will gradually move from light to darkness as we remember the suffering and death of Christ.
Christians have gathered on this day for centuries to read these texts, pray these prayers, and remember the crucifixion of our Lord. This service is intended to be quiet, reverent, and reflective, helping us consider the death of Christ with sobriety, gratitude, and worship.
We gather on Good Friday not to move quickly to Easter, but to remember the cross, to hear again the words of Scripture, and to consider the weight of the atonement and the suffering of Christ on behalf of sinners.

“Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows…
But he was pierced for our transgressions;
he was crushed for our iniquities;
upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace,
and with his wounds we are healed.”
— Isaiah 53:4–5
