Before a church considers a man for the pastorate, they should first conduct a criminal background check and look at his personal credit report. Diligent prudence at the beginning can spare a church a lot of heartache down the road. A man that can’t handle his own finances cannot be trusted to oversee the finances of a church.

A pastor that has filed bankruptcy or repeatedly overshoots his church’s financial capabilities will create a congregation that is constantly stressed and overwhelmed. There is a thin line between faith and foolishness. Do your homework!
