Today’s PSA: The power of setting intentions.
Intention setting is clearly stating what you want to experience and achieve through your actions.
I do this every morning.
I literally lay in bed and think about how I want my day to go (and consult with Holy Spirit.)
This morning one of my intentions was that I wouldn’t get frustrated. So whatever happened, I decided that I would not get frustrated.
It’s the reason I didn’t snap on my kid when we left the house late and I had to rearrange some things AND drive. (See previous post. I was joking about using ALL the words. LOL)
It’s the reason I didn’t have a bad attitude about waiting for the family of a couple to arrive for the wedding I officiated when it was 1000 degrees outside.
It’s the reason I didn’t get mad at the rude cashier at ***.
I had many other opportunities, but I had decided that I was not getting frustrated today.
Fast forward to early evening. I reached out to someone for help on something that I totally dropped the ball on. When I felt frustration creeping in, I said out loud, “Shawndra, you’re not frustrated. You’re hot, hungry and tired (I didn’t get a nap today.”
So you know what I did? I ate and went to sleep.
Why am I telling you this?
Setting intentions really does work.
YOU get to decide the type of day you’re going to have. Once YOU make the decision, you attract what you say in your life. (There is power in our words.) When you set your intentions, you disallow your day to happen to you. You tell your day how it will be.
Makes sense? I hope so.
Who wants to try it? Let me know how it goes.
