Did you know that Louisiana has the tallest state capitol building in the entire United States? The Louisiana State Capitol stands an impressive 450 feet tall with 34 floors!

Here’s another interesting fact: Louisiana’s State Capitol is one of only nine state capitol buildings in the U.S. that does not have a dome.

FRIDAY FUN FACTS! 🎶
You may have heard of the famous U.S. Route 66, which crosses eight states from Illinois to California—but have you ever heard of U.S. Highway 61, also known as the “Blues Highway”?

Established as a U.S. Highway in 1926, Highway 61 begins in New Orleans, Louisiana, and travels north approximately 1,400 miles through eight states:

Louisiana • Mississippi • Tennessee • Arkansas • Missouri • Iowa • Wisconsin • Minnesota

Today, it ends in the city of Wyoming, Minnesota—not the state of Wyoming! 😊

But here’s another fun fact: U.S. 61 once continued all the way to the U.S.–Canada border! The historic route traveled through Duluth and north along Lake Superior toward Canada.

🎵 Why is it called the Blues Highway? Highway 61 runs through some of the most important places in the history of American blues music, particularly through the Mississippi Delta. The legendary highway has been celebrated by generations of musicians and even inspired Bob Dylan’s famous album Highway 61 Revisited.

Now that’s a road trip filled with American history, culture, and music!

Did you know that Louisiana is the only U.S. state whose private-law system is rooted primarily in the civil-law tradition, rather than the English common-law tradition followed by the other 49 states?

Louisiana’s unique legal system reflects its rich French and Spanish colonial history, with influences that can still be seen in its laws, language, culture, architecture, and traditions today.

It’s one of the many things that makes Louisiana so fascinating and unique!
