Steve’s Journey: From Resilience to Renewal
Steve’s story is one of determination, strength, and hope. When he came to the Manna Dream Center, our local emergency shelter for men, he was ready to take the first steps toward a new chapter in his life. Over six months, Steve demonstrated incredible perseverance and integrity, earning an extension on his stay and inspiring those around him.
At the beginning of his journey, finding steady employment was a challenge. Steve worked hard doing odd jobs, but he was determined to build something more stable. With support from the Manna Dream Center and the resources provided through Fayetteville Cares, he secured a position at Gusto Napoletano, a local Italian restaurant and pizzeria.
At work, Steve’s commitment and resilience shone brightly. He consistently showed up, gave his best, and built strong relationships. His dedication earned the trust of the restaurant’s owners, who gave him a key to the business—a significant symbol of their confidence in him. Soon after, Steve was promoted to a full-time role, allowing him to save enough money to move into a place of his own.
Steve’s journey reflects the power of community, opportunity, and his own unwavering determination to succeed. By utilizing the resources at the Day Resource Center and the Manna Dream Center, and with the partnership of organizations like Marius Maximus Foundation for Mental Health and Continuum of Care's Coordinated Entry, Steve achieved his goals and began building a future filled with promise.
We at Fayetteville Cares are honored to walk alongside individuals like Steve as they harness their strengths, overcome barriers, and achieve their dreams. We are deeply grateful to our community partners and supporters who make stories like Steve’s possible.
If Steve’s journey resonates with you, join us in creating more opportunities for empowerment and success. Visit faycares.org to learn how you can get involved and help make a difference. Together, we can support our neighbors on their path to renewal and independence.

90 students and 20 staff members at WT Brown felt special today as Manna packed and delivered 119 bags of food from the Dream Center warehouse. The bags included the makings for a great Thanksgiving day meal including a frozen chicken. Special thanks go out to the 17 Manna folks that showed up on Sunday afternoon to pack the bags. As always, KUDOS to Michael Damato who works tirelessly to keep the warehouse up and running smoothly for the benefit of others.
