This is the kickoff day for our grand promotional 7 day launch of my new books about prayer. Eph 6:16 mentions the fiery darts of the wicked. The darts are quenched with the shield of faith. The awareness and understanding of how to survive and overcome the wicked requires prayer. "Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints." Eph 6:18. Some wonder how they can fulfill the admonition to pray without ceasing. After all, how can you live a normal life or teach a Bible study or go to work if you are on your knees in your closet at all times. The problem is not with the admonition. The problem is with understanding what prayer is. Prayer is talking to God. If you are aware of His presence at all times, you will be talking to Him at all times.

Do you think it is possible to have a good relationship with God without a good prayer life? Not really. Prayer is talking to God. What kind of relationship can you have with God or anyone if you do not talk to them? If you are struggling to pray, talk to God about it. Discuss your problem. Ask Him to help you pray. This is a prayer He will want to grant.

How is your relationship with God? Struggling? No praying much? This is a good indication that your relationship with God is struggling. Your relationship with God is only as good as your prayer life. Prayer is simply talking to God, and friends like to talk to each other. If you are not talking to God, then how can you think that you are friends with God? Does that work well for you with people?

If you take a moment to reflect on the fruit qualities of the spirit, you will realize that this fruit is nothing like that seen in our world today. That should give you a clue as to which spirit is being followed by most today. If more people would follow the Spirit of God, the world would be a nicer and happier place.

Have you been told or heard that when you pray, if you name it, then claim it! That never worked for me. And as I studied about prayer in the Bible, it seemed rather clear to me that "name it and claim it " prayers are more about pride and control than about humility and dependence. I sympathize with the desire to reconcile the promises in the Bible with personal experiences. That is why I asked God to teach me about prayer. Specifically, I asked Him to teach me about the prayers that move mountains. He gave me 2 mountains 30 years ago and taught me. I am still learning. I learned how to resolve the differences between promises and experiences. And I learned how to stop the frustration that makes praying so difficult for many. Which do you prefer: joy and gladness or anger and unhappiness? The answer seems so obvious, yet so many choose otherwise. Unfortunately, when others choose misery, they often share it with the rest of us. They not only share it, they force it on us. But we need not despair. We have hope in Christ, and with that hope, we can share our joy and gladness with others. Will your joy and gladness in Christ be louder than the anger and unhappiness of those in rebellion? Try it. Share a positive message of hope and joy. If enough would do so, we might actually make this world a better place.
