"When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were astonished at his teaching, because he was teaching them like one who had authority, and not like their scribes." — Matthew 7:28-29 (CSB) This whole parable is Jesus' closing word on the Sermon on the Mount — and He doesn't teach like a philosopher offering options. He teaches with authority, because He IS the rock we're called to build on. So — hearer or doer this week? Let's build wisely, together.

"The rain fell, the rivers rose, the winds blew and pounded that house, and it collapsed. It was completely destroyed." — Matthew 7:27 (CSB) This is the sobering part of the parable. Jesus doesn't soften it. A life built on hearing without obeying doesn't just struggle in the storm — it falls, completely. Grace covers our failure, but Jesus is still calling us to build wisely. Today's a good day to check your foundation.

"But everyone who hears these words of mine and doesn't act on them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand." — Matthew 7:26 (CSB) Sand isn't a bad building material because it looks weak — it looks just fine on a clear day. The problem shows up when the pressure comes. Hearing without doing feels the same as real faith... until it's tested.
